Tommy Carl Bussell was born February 17, 1934 to Mary and TC Bussell in San Antonio, Texas. He went to be with the Lord and the love of his life Loyce Yvonne Bussell on April 2, 2020. Tommy was a very big personality that we all loved and appreciated. His family was the most important thing to him and everything he accomplished in his life was for them. He has left a legacy that will go on forever in our hearts.

Tommy and his dad Mr. B formed T.C. Bussell and Son after Tommy graduated from high school in 1952. They constructed their first drilling rig and water truck and began drilling domestic water wells, parking their equipment in an alley beside the garage apartment off of West 10 ^th Street in the Heights area in Houston where the family lived. The accounting was done on the family's kitchen table. Tommy and Mr. B worked long hours trying to establish their young business, while building new equipment and improving what they had. In Tommy's spare time he started building a rotary drill rig for a drilling company on Long Island, N.Y. When completed he drove the rig to Long Island and stayed six weeks to train the employees the proper way to operate the rig. In 1958 they bought property on North Houston Rosslyn and built their first real business location. All during this time the business kept growing and evolved into a real water well drilling firm that drilled domestic, commercial and industrial systems. During this time period Tommy was appointed by Texas Governor Preston Smith to serve on the Water Well Drillers Board which he served for 12 years. Tommy was also very involved in the Lone Star Water Well Association (which is now the Texas Ground Water Association) and served on the board and went through the chairs to serve as President. . In the 1970's Tommy was elected to serve on the National Water Well Association Board of Directors. He served on the board for 3 years and then progressed through the chairs to serve as president in 1977. He was instrumental in forming the N.W.W.A scholarship fund in memory of his oldest son Carl and this scholarship is still active today. In 1987 Tommy gave the keynote address at the National Water Well Association convention. It was the first time in the association's history that a member of the organization gave the keynote address. Tommy started that speech stating that he was very defensive about the industry that had provided his family's livelihood. He said I am not an eternal optimist nor a pessimist I am a realist. The major topics of his address was dedication and commitment. He said that to dedicate is to commit and commitment is a dedication to a course of action. Dedication is the seed, commitment is the fruit. This is how he lived his life and ran his business.

Tommy was also the first president of the American Ground Water International Trust. In 1978 and 1984 Tommy was awarded Driller of the Year their highest honor, by the Texas Ground Water Association. The business continued to grow to include municipal water wells and a division for water plant construction. He started Texas Water Wells Inc. which was a 24 hour drilling firm for large municipal plants and served as its president for 3 years until he negotiated a sale of most of the operational assets to a large agricultural firm in Chiapas, Mexico. In 1982 Tommy bought property in Tomball and moved the business to the larger facility. In 1998 Tommy was approached by D.Q.E.-Aquasource to buy the company. Tommy made the deal and worked for Aquasource Construction Inc. as the Vice President-Water Construction. During that time he completed the formation of a successful, efficient organization comprised of five other separate construction related companies around the State of Texas purchased by Aquasource. Each of these companies were formally an independently owned successful operation, all of which were involved in the production, handling and purveying of our core product, water. The organization was successfully groomed and molded into a cohesive group of three operational satellites by consolidation of some of the divisions. The three satellites remaining somewhat independent, operating under his direction became productive as well as profitable with gross revenues of approximately 20 million annually. The opportunity to purchase the company in the first quarter of 2003 came about and Tommy negotiated a repurchase of the three satellites operating as AquaUtility Construction L.P. After the purchase two of the satellites were sold and the remaining became once again a family owned business as Bussell & Sons, LLC.

In 2008 Tommy bought the location off of Mueschke in Tomball and built a bigger facility where the company is located today.

Tommy was bigger than life in everything that he did and accomplished. He was a great father, grandfather, friend and business associate who will be deeply missed.

Tommy is preceded in death by his loving wife Loyce Yvonne Bussell, his son Carl Kennard Bussell and his parents Mary and TC Bussell. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Craig & Mandy Bussell, his son and daughter-in law, Troy and Karla Bussell, his grandchildren, Jennifer & Jason Beam, Jeannette & Anthony Trevino, Jillian & Thomas San Felipe and his great grandchildren Ava Beam, Jackson Beam, Gatlin Trevino, Blake Trevino and Reagan San Felipe and step-granddaughter Kayli Desormeaux and her daughter Layla Coleman.
