Thompson Gundlach Twichell died peacefully in his sleep at home. Tom was born on November 19, 1948 in Charleston, West Virginia to Doris D. and Malcolm K. Twichell. Tom is survived by his two brothers Joseph B. Twichell and Fredrick W. Twichell. Tom is also survived by his beloved wife, Linda, and three daughters, Christine Twichell England, Courtney Twichell Morrill, son-in-law Darin Morrill, four grandchildren, Mason, Brandon, Hayden and Madelyn Morrill, Kelly Twichell Herbert and Dan Davidson.
Tom graduated from Washburn University in Topeka, Kansas. Tom and his family remained in Topeka for a number of years where he began his long and successful career in the jewelry and diamond business. He and his family then moved to Oklahoma, north Texas and finally Houston. Besides, spending time with his family, he especially enjoyed watching his grandchildren play soccer and football. Tom was very handy and liked helping his neighbors out. In addition, he served on his subdivision's homeowners board of directors.
Tom loved his dogs and every dog he would come across on a walk. His wife often referred to him as part canine. Tom also loved baseball and was thrilled when the Houston Astros won the World Series in November. College basketball was another favorite of Tom's, and he always cheered on the Kansas Jayhawks. Last spring, after KU won the college basketball championship, Tom was excited to actually meet KU Coach Bill Self. Tom and Linda often attended concerts, the symphony and occasionally an opera. Most of all, Tom was a beloved son, brother, husband, father, Pops and friend who will be greatly missed.
