Thomas (Tommy) Truxton Reynolds, Jr., 80, of Houston, walked into the loving arms of his Lord and Savior on April 14, 2023. Tommy was born in Houston on January 4, 1943 to Thomas "Truxton" and Thelma Reynolds and attended Sam Houston High School.  He came to know Christ at a young age and lived each day with heavenly purpose by loving God and loving people.

Tommy grew up an active member of Glen Rose Baptist Church with his parents and siblings.  It was at this church where he met and married his high-school sweetheart, LaVerne.  Tommy and LaVerne maintained strong, lifelong friendships that developed as part of this church family so many years ago.  He was named a deacon at Glen Rose in 1967.  They joined Champion Forest Baptist Church after moving to the "suburbs" to raise their children.  From city and church league softball and basketball to tennis and golf with his neighborhood friends, Tommy enjoyed competing in sports.   He also loved watching his brother, Craig, play professional baseball. Some of Tommy's favorite memories were of his fishing trips and family vacations to Rockport, TX where he enjoyed wade fishing and watching his kids, grandkids, nieces and nephews hook their first fish at the "Piggy Pen".

Right after high school, he and his father started a small screen shop that eventually grew to be a leading manufacturer of iron works and burglar bars in the 70's, 80's and 90's.  He did everything from building, painting, installing, and selling iron work. Over the years, after his dad retired, his focus shifted to home renovation.  No matter what his craft or service, Tommy had multiple generations of repeat customers who still called him for repeat business even to the last days of his life.  His integrity and love for people was reflected in every aspect of his life and work.

Tommy's greatest earthly love was for his wife of 62 years, LaVerne, and he served her with pure pleasure until his last breath.  His love for her was constant and an inspiration to everyone who knew him.  He was a hands-on, nurturing father to his daughters, Rhonda and Renee, through every stage of life.  Even now, their homes are just streets apart.  Known as "Gdaddy" to his grandkids, Tommy was active in their lives.  He spent countless hours on basketball courts, baseball fields, soccer fields, golf courses, and cheer or dance competitions watching Morgan, Mason, Darbey, Mackenzie and Rex do the things they loved.  His newest joy in life was for his first great-grandson, Harrison.  Tommy looked forward to any time with family which always involved lots of joking and laughter with his siblings Larry, Craig and Gail.  His large extended family included many nieces and nephews who all loved their "Uncle Tommy".

Tommy is preceded in death by his father and mother, Truxton and Thelma Reynolds.  He is survived by: wife LaVerne; daughters Renee Barbe (Dean) and Rhonda Hargrove (Tom); grandchildren Morgan Wagner (Nathan), Mason Mai (Morgan), Darbey Hargrove, Mackenzie Hargrove, and Rex Hargrove; bonus grandkids Hannah Barbe (Terry) and Cole Barbe (Emily); his great grandson, Harrison Wagner; his siblings Larry Reynolds (Carol), Craig Reynolds (Josey), and Gail Gallien (Jim); and an amazing crew of extended family on both the Parsons and Reynolds sides.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, April 18 ^th at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Champion Forest Baptist Church at 15555 Stuebner-Airline Road.
