Thomas L. "Tom" Schulte, 63, passed away on October 19, 2017. Tom was born on January 2, 1954 in Houston, Texas to late Eddie W. Schulte Sr. and Genevieve Schattel Schulte. Growing up in the Heights, Tom attended Christ the King and went on to graduate from St. Thomas High School in 1972. Tom received his B.S. in Criminal Justice from Sam Houston State University in 1975.
Tom began his career in law enforcement with the Houston Police Department on January 22, 1973, Academy Class #58. During a career with HPD that spanned 37 years, Tom was assigned to the Central, Southwest and Special Operations Divisions. Tom retired as a Senior Police Officer on January 23, 2010.
Tom never met a stranger and was a friend to many. He was a loving father and a devoted husband. Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Eddie W. Schulte Sr. and Genevieve Schattel Schulte. Tom is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Paula Langwell Schulte of Cypress; his daughter, Sarah Yerex and her husband Jon of Hempstead; his son, Thomas L. "Tommy" Schulte Jr. of Cypress; grandchildren, Ava and Mia Schulte of Victoria; his brother, Eddie W. Schulte Jr. and his wife Jane of Oak Point, Texas; his sister, Gina McCain of Cypress and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation with the family will be held on Monday, October 23, 2017 from 5:00 until 8:00 PM, with a Rosary starting at 7:00 PM, at Klein Funeral Home CyFair. Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, October 24, 2017 at Christ the Redeemer Catholic Church, 11507 Huffmeister Road Houston, TX 77065 with Father Jim Murphy, CSB officiating. Interment will follow at the Klein Memorial Park Cemetery in Tomball, Texas where full Police honors will be conducted by the HPD Honor Guard.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions in Tom's memory be made to St. Thomas High School or a charity of your choice.
