Thomas Edward Prewitt (November 25, 1924- May 1, 2020)

Thomas Edward Prewitt was born on November 25, 1924 to Joseph Alva and Ethel Faulkner Prewitt in Mount Sterling, Kentucky.   He had to grow up fast after losing his Father at age 13.  When World War 2 broke out he was quick to enlist at age 18.   Tom served in the U.S. Navy from 1942-1947 as an Aviation Electronic Technician's Mate Second Class and was in the Pacific Theatre of the War during the War and continued to serve after the War in the U.S. Naval Reserve.  After World War 2 ended he attended the University of Kentucky and earned a Bachelor of Science in Engineering.  He was in ROTC and the Pershing Rifles Honorary.  Upon graduation he went on to serve in the U.S. Air Force Reserve, attaining the rank of First Lieutenant before leaving the service in 1954.  While at U.K. he met the love of his life, Janice Mae Marshall, who became his wife of over 70 years.

Tom went to work for George Hormel Company upon graduating from U.K. and served with distinction  for 35 years.  He served in management positions in the Beef Division of the Company in Springfield, Missouri, Miami, Oklahoma, Scottsbluff, Nebraska, and Huron, South Dakota. Tom also gave back to the Community, serving as Rotary Club President, serving on the Library Board, helping establish a Seniors Center, and other activities which reflected his generous heart and kind nature.  He was a devout Christian and was active in Bible Study Fellowship and the United Methodist Church.

Tom is survived by his wife Janice Marshall Prewitt; his daughter Stephanie Prewitt Brown and her husband Michael of Pleasanton, Kansas; his daughter Barbara Prewitt Myers of Demopolis, Alabama; and his son John Marshall Prewitt and his wife Kelly of Cypress, Texas.  He is also survived by seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

Tom will be interred at the Houston National Cemetery in Houston, Texas.  A private Memorial Service for Tom will be at Klein Funeral Home Champions with Pastor Doug McWhirter presiding.  Given the COVID-19 pandemic, there will be no formal burial service.  In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to Meals on Wheels- Tomball and the Salvation Army.
