Thomas James Lubenau, a vibrant soul who found his joy in the great outdoors, was taken from us far too soon on September 13, 2023, in Tomball, Texas. He was just 31 years old, born in Alamogordo, New Mexico, on June 19, 1992. Thomas's life was marked by a deep love for nature, a passion for teaching, and a profound connection with his loved ones.

Thomas's journey was one of both academic and outdoor exploration. He earned a degree in wildlife sciences, a testament to his commitment to understanding and preserving the natural world that he cherished so dearly. His heart truly belonged to the outdoors, and he found his greatest happiness in hunting, fishing, and camping adventures.

As a science teacher at McCullough Junior High, Thomas shared his love for the sciences with the next generation, leaving an indelible mark on the young minds he inspired. His dedication to education extended to the sports field, where he coached football and golf, shaping not only athletes but also instilling in them the values of teamwork, discipline, and sportsmanship.

Thomas's love was not confined to the wilderness and sports; it extended to his beloved dog, Sammy, a faithful companion who shared in his outdoor adventures. He cherished the unconditional love and companionship Sammy provided.

Thomas was married to Christa Lubenau, a fellow educator at Metzler Elementary. Together, they embarked on a journey filled with love and a shared enthusiasm for life's adventures.

Thomas is preceded in death by his parents, Victoria Lubenau and William "Bill" Lubenau, leaving behind cherished memories of family. He is survived by his wife, Christa Lubenau; devoted brother, William Lubenau of Nampa, Idaho; and grandparents, Harold and Martha Baca of Socorro, New Mexico, and Thomas R. and Harriet Lubenau of Alamogordo, New Mexico. He is also survived by his aunt, Rebecca Baca of Alamogordo, New Mexico; uncle and aunt, Thomas J. and Carolyn Lubenau of Maple Valley, Washington; uncle, Lonny Huseman of Lubbock, Texas; father and mother-in-law, Jody and Kathy Pelzel of Rockdale, Texas; and brother and sister-in-law, Joshua and Brooke Pelzel, along with their son and Thomas' nephew, Landon Pelzel, of Boerne, Texas.

Thomas James Lubenau's presence in our lives was a gift, a testament to the beauty of nature, the importance of education, and the power of love. As we bid him farewell, let us remember his spirit and the lasting impact he had on all who knew him. May he rest in eternal peace, forever in our hearts.
