Obituary

Tomas Garson, 94 years old, resident of Humble, Texas passed away on June 14, 2017 at the Fall Creek Rehabilitation Center in Humble, Texas. Funeral services will be held at the Houston Memorial Veterans Cemetery on June 20th, 2017 at 1 PM.
Thomas was preceded in death by his wife Lorene Garson, his parents, seven brothers and sisters. He is survived by his daughter Darlene and husband Tom Baker, Son Carl and wife Alice Garson and grandchildren Brent Moore, Andrea Moore, Stacey Lofstad, Rhys Steinhorst, Allison Rau, and Corey Steinhorst.
Thomas left his senior year of high school to join the Coast Guard during world war II and was assigned to the destroyer escort USS Joyce. They crossed the Atlantic on many voyages, sank one submarine off the coast of the US and saved many lives by picking up survivors or other destroyed ships. He returned home received his GED and some college at University of Houston while he began his carrier working as a sheet metal worker with Southern Pacific and Missouri Pacific Railroads where he retired. He also was a member of the US Navy reserves and was called up to serve in the Korean conflict.
Thomas grew up in the outdoors and loved hunting, fishing, and camping. He also was very active in the Boy Scouts ,where he met made many life long friends. He was a member of the VFW, American Legion and Amvets.
Thomas and Lorene will rest in peace together at the VA cemetery in Houston, Texas, Love from your family and "Rest in Peace."
