THOMAS EDWARD REDER

Thomas "Tom" Edward Reder, 62, of Cypress, Texas, passed away at home with his family on December 23, 2023, after a short yet courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.

Tom was born January 13, 1961, in Joliet, Illinois, to Ronald Edward Reder and Ione (Aafedt) Reder. Tom graduated from Cy-Fair High School in Cypress, Texas in 1979, where he was a member of the Varsity Basketball team and made lifelong friends. He graduated from the University of Texas in 1983 with a Bachelor of Business Administration, majoring in Finance. While at the University of Texas, Tom enjoyed playing intramural basketball and was proud to be on a team that won a championship. After graduation, he worked at Toshiba International Corporation in Sales for five years. In 1989, Tom decided that he wanted to pursue a career in the legal field and attended Mississippi College School of Law in Jackson, Mississippi. While attending Mississippi College School of Law, Tom was a member of Phi Delta Phi Fraternity, where he served as the fraternity's Magister. Tom also served as Chairman of the 1991-1992 Moot Court Board and a member of the 1991-1992 Trial Competition Team, and the Chief Justice of the Honor Court for Mississippi College School of Law. It was while serving on the Moot Court Board, that Tom realized his love of advocating for others. He graduated with a Doctor of Jurisprudence in May of 1992 and began his career in civil litigation at the Law Office of Thomas E. Reder in Houston, Texas, where he impacted numerous people's lives. A man of considerable stature both in physical presence and spirit, Tom made friends everywhere he went. His faith was unwavering and the ability he had to make others feel special and included was a gift. Whether Tom was organizing the cooking for MENSA events at Saint Aidan's Episcopal Church or heading up tailgating for his daughter's club volleyball team; his love for helping others was evident and felt by all. Tom had a passion for serving others and was the videographer for his daughter's high school volleyball team, then became the announcer for all home games after she graduated. In fact, for the past three years, Cy-Woods High School has given out "The Tom Reder Award". This award is given to the supporters that have been the truest steward to the volleyball program each year. His love for sports, especially the football programs for the Nebraska Cornhuskers and the University of Texas Longhorns, was apparent while passionately watching and cheering. Tom enjoyed coaching his youngest brother's and nephew's basketball teams over the years and was his daughter's biggest cheerleader. Tom had a tremendous love for his family and friends, which included his faithful companions, his dogs. He also cherished his time spent fishing at his parent's lake in Wisconsin and family gettogethers at the Double R Ranch in Texas. He was a loyal and loving husband, father, son and brother, and an amazing and charismatic friend who will be missed by all who knew him.

Tom is survived by his wife, Ashley (Jordan) Reder; daughter, AnnFlorian Reder; his parents Ronald Edward Reder and Ione Aafedt Reder; his siblings, Dr. Paul Aafedt Reder and wife Suzanne, Rebekah Lee Reder, Andrew Ardean Reder and Matthew Jon Reder and wife Lisa; as well as many loving nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, January 3, 2024 at 11 am at Saint Aidan's Episcopal Church in Cypress, Texas with a reception immediately following the service in the Parish Hall.
