Thomas David Carmel, 70, of Spring, Texas, passed away unexpectedly of heart failure on January 12, 2017.
He was born in Boston, Massachusetts on October 18, 1946, to the late Patricia and John Carmel. He grew up in Pittsfield, Mass. and graduated from St. Joseph Central High School in 1964 and went on to attend Georgetown University in Washington D.C. where he received his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. He then went on to earn his Juris Doctor at Boston College Law School.
He relocated back to D.C. where he began his law career with the Federal Government at the Interstate Commerce Commission, followed by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission. In 1981, he turned his passion towards corporate law and moved his young family to Houston, TX, where he worked for Conoco for over 25 years until he retired in 2007.
Aside from being an accomplished Attorney, Tom was known for his selfless devotion to family. Undoubtedly, his children were the light of his life and he loved spending time with them. He also enjoyed traveling the world, playing golf, and visiting with friends.
He will be especially remembered for his story-telling, quick wit, and sense of humor that would fill a room with laughter.
Tom is survived by his sister, Christine Sheasby and her husband Robert, his four children David, Carrie, Brian and Beth, his daughter-in-law Karen, son-in-law David, his beloved grandchildren Robert, Mary Marie, Trevor, Rachael, and Kelcie, as well as the mother of his children, Patricia Carmel, many nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents Patricia and John Carmel, his grandparents John and Frances Volin of Pittsfield, MA and William and Kathryn Carmel of Dalton, MA.
Visitation with the family will be held on Sunday, January 22 nd from 5-8 pm at Klein Funeral Home, 1400 West Main, Tomball, TX 77375. Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 23 rd at 11:00 am at St. Ignatius Loyola Catholic Church, 7810 Cypresswood Drive, Spring, 77379.
In Lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made online to the American Heart Association at donatenow.heart.org.
