Obituary

Therese Ann Tolch Henton was born on February 9, 1965 to Rita Ann Woesthaus and Paul E. Tolch in Havana, Illinois. She went home to the Lord on September 2, 2021.

Her mother named her Therese Ann, but she has been known as Terri since she was a little girl. Terri, her older sister Joan, and their parents moved to Paxton, Illinois and then to Hoopeston, Illinois when Terri was two. In Hoopeston, two brothers and another sister joined the family. Terri attended school in Hoopeston, and she earned her bachelor's degree from Eastern Illinois University.

Terri was christened in the Catholic faith at birth and raised in a Christian family as members of S. Anthony's Catholic Church. Terri accepted Christ as her Savior at an early age. In recent years, Terri has been a member of The Woodlands United Methodist Church and became involved in the Sheppard Care Program (visiting shut-ins), Hope Beyond Bridges (feeding the homeless), and a Harvest Home Group.

For many years, Terri was a single mom to Niki and Michael. Phill J. Henton, Jr. joined the family on September 6, 2003 in marriage to Terri, and the new family moved to Spring, Texas. Phill joined the Lord on December 17, 2017.

Terri began her career in public pension at the State Universities Retirement System in July 1992 and continued working in pension until she retired from Aon in 2021. In 2016, Terri achieved the designation of Certified Employee Benefits Specialist.

Like her mother before her and her children after her, Terri was a Thespian; she loved theatre, books, travel, and philanthropy. For many years, Terri captained a Heart Walk team and organized fund-raising events for the American Heart Association. Terri also volunteered and donated her time and resources through her church and local community.

Terri became adventurous at age 50, skydiving, jet-skiing, horseback riding, rock-wall climbing and even training with an American Ninja Warrior. She was an avid sports fan. In 2016, she took up cycling and she ran in a team mini triathlon with friends.

Terri is preceded in death by her husband, Phill Jerone Henton, Jr. and her mother, Rita Ann Dean.

Terri is survived by her daughter, Nicole P. Tolch, her son, Michael J. Tolch; her father, Paul E. (Toni) Tolch; her stepfather, Donald Dean; her siblings, Joan (Steve) Duffy, Stephen P (Mary Ann) Tolch, Andrew C. (Christy) Tolch, and Anne-Marie Tolch; 2 stepbrothers and 1 stepsister; and many nieces and nephews.

"I shall pass through this world but once; any good things therefore I can do, or any kindness that I can show to any human being let me do it now, let me not defer it or neglect it. For I shall not pass this way again." - Stephen Grellet

A funeral service for Terri will be held at 10am on Tuesday, September 14, 2021 at The Woodlands United Methodist Church,  2200 Lake Woodlands Drive, The Woodlands, TX 77380, to be immediately followed by committal in Paradise Cemetery North.
