Terry Brown was born on August 27, 1938, in Salina, Kansas. He grew up in Colby, Kansas, the youngest of three. While attending the University of Kansas as a civil engineer major, he met Judy Platt, from Kansas City, Missouri. They graduated from college and were married in 1960. Terry's job in industrial sales led him to move to Illinois, eventually settling in Wheaton. There he and Judy raised their two children: Dave (born in 1963) and Kathy (born in 1966).  With his outgoing personality, Terry excelled in sales and was promoted to manager of Dresser Industries Far East region. The family relocated to Spring, Texas, in 1983, so he could work from his company's Houston headquarters. He traveled across Asia, including Japan, Korea, China, India, and Singapore.

In 1996, Terry retired from Dresser, and began his most fulfilling full-time employment: gardening. Terry's backyard is a place of beauty and his front yard is a gathering place for the neighborhood. Another occupation that gave Terry great joy was volunteering at Houston Northwest Hospital.  Even when cancer forced him to step back from his volunteer shift, he stopped by often to visit with the many friends he had made. Most important of all was his family. With Dave and Jodie in Michigan and Kathy and Mark in Maryland, Terry's family was spread far apart. Terry and Judy made regular trips to Maryland to see Kathy and Mark with their five children: Katarina, Gretchen, Friedrich, Hans, and Christian. The long distance relationship always felt close, because he was so interested in everything related to his children and grandchildren. As his wife developed medical problems in the last few years, Terry cared for her tenderly and tirelessly. Everyone who knew Terry will remember him for his exuberant story-telling, his laughter and joy of living, and his unselfish care for his friends and family. He was a friend to everyone he met.  The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 with a memorial service at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday May 24, 2016 in the chapel of Klein Funeral Home, 16131 Champion Forest Drive.
