Obituary

Tanner Graham Reed, of Houston, Texas, went to be with the Lord on September 3, 2021. Tanner was born on October 28th, 1981, in Stephenville, Texas, to Charles and Gina Reed. He attended Stephenville High School where he loved to play both football and baseball. He joined the Bluff Dale Volunteer Fire Department as a teenager, starting his passion to serve others. After high school, he attended Weatherford Fire Academy, graduating in May of 2003. Shortly after graduation, Tanner took his first full-time firefighter position with the Houston Fire Department, while also serving the Cy-Fair Volunteer Fire Department for several years.

Tanner grew up in the country loving all things outdoors, his friends, and his family. He had a passion for the guitar and sitting around a campfire singing to us all. While he loved the hustle of all the calls and the adrenaline each one brought from the Houston city life, he also missed the space and quietness of the pastures back home; he often took Lexi there to ensure she knew the value of country life. While at home in Houston, you could always drive by and see him sitting in his garage planning out his next project while sipping his favorite drink. Tanner was ornery, feisty and stubborn but loved big and would do anything for others. He hated shopping but would patiently take his mother to the shops for hours! He could be the life of the party-cutting up, joking, making friends with everyone he met, or he would sit back, quietly assessing the room to see if the people there were worthy of his friendship. If you were lucky enough to make the cut, his friendship was genuine and lifelong. He became invested in his friend's lives; it wasn't an investment he took lightly. He had a love for the grill, often cooking for big groups and was very particular about his yard. He took pride in making a home for Lexi. She was his everything.

He was a proud member of HFD for 17 years and believed in his team. He served at Stations 73 and 77, and his last assignment was as an engineer/operator at Station 10, Shift B.

Tanner is survived by his daughter Lexi Reed and her mother Anna and son Jacob McAllister and his fiance Haley; mother Gina Reed-Nease and stepfather John Nease; siblings and their spouses Shane and Heather Reed, Hans and Kim Reed, and Hilary and Matt Stephans; nieces and nephews Colton Adkins and fiance Rylyn, Madison and Allison Reed, Griffin and Emmy Reed, Gunner, Gavin, Gracelyn, Stephanie and spouse Ben, Steve and spouse Michaela, Skyler Stephans, Rose Carbonell Howard, Elizabeth Carbonell, Dani Tidmore; and many great-nieces, nephews and cousins around the world. He is preceded in death by his father Charles Eugene Reed and his loving grandparents.

The family wishes to share their sincere thanks and gratitude to the Houston Fire Department and the nurses and staff at the HCA Houston Healthcare North Cypress Hospital for the overwhelming amount of support during this difficult time.
