In Loving Memory of Sylvia Trula Lyons Nicklas

February 8, 1946 – May 24, 2025

With heavy hearts and everlasting love, we celebrate the life of Sylvia Trula Lyons Nicklas, who went to be with her Lord and Savior on May 24, 2025. Born on February 8, 1946, in Jasper, Texas, Sylvia was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and faithful servant of Christ.

Sylvia was a woman who lived out her faith daily—with quiet strength, gentle kindness, and a heart full of love. She was the beloved mother of Mark Nicklas and his wife Christina, and Stacie Penny and her husband Chase. Her greatest joy was her family, and she poured herself into their lives with tireless love and enduring devotion.

She was the treasured "Mema" to her grandchildren: Kaleb, Kamryn, and Taylar Nicklas; Michael Nicklas and his daughter Xuri; Jordain and her husband Bret, along with their children Belton and Blakely; Lanie Castillo; and Landry Penny. Sylvia's love knew no bounds, and her legacy lives on in each of them—in their faith, their laughter, and the love they share with others.

To all who knew her, Sylvia was more than a relative or a friend she was Mema. She had the rare ability to make everyone feel seen, heard, and unconditionally loved. Her presence was peaceful, her words were uplifting, and her faith in Jesus Christ was unshakable.

A private family viewing will be held on Wednesday, May 28th at 11:00 a.m. at Klein Funeral Home in Magnolia, Texas. While no public service will be held, Sylvia's life and legacy will continue to be celebrated in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to honor Sylvia's memory by showing kindness, sharing your faith, and loving others well—just as she always did.

Psalm 23 1-4

The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.

He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.

He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil:

For thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
