Our beloved mother, Suzanne (Sue, Susie) Hebert Holmes went to be with our Lord on January 17, 2023. She was born in Port Arthur, Texas on September 25, 1932 to the late Harry Hebert and late Clara Dumesnil Hebert and she attended Bishop Byrne High School. In her own words before she passed, "90 years…what a good life." Being a child of the depression and war eras, Sue was incredibly resourceful and fiercely loyal to her country. There is nothing that she couldn't figure out how to do, and she did it perfectly.
Sue married Bob (Bobby) Holmes on August 23, 1953 in Port Arthur. They happily headed off to make College Station their home as Bob proudly became a member of the Fighting Texas Aggie Class of 1954, and Sue was the biggest supporter and fan. She and Bob remained the truest of Aggies their entire lives. Many weekends in the Fall were spent enjoying friends, family and Aggie football while tailgating with their RV in College Station. All were welcome (as long as they were Aggies)! They looked forward to traveling across Texas and elsewhere with their RV club.
Sue and Bob relocated their family to the Spring, Texas area when Bob's employment with Jefferson Chemical, Port Arthur took him to Texaco, Houston. They became prominent members of the Klein community as she worked in administration at Haude Elementary, KISD for 20 years, and Bob served on the Klein ISD School Board for 20 years. She loved the children and staff whom she served at Haude, and they loved her.
Sue is preceded in death by her husband, Bob, and her son, Grant Holmes. She is survived by her loving daughter, Bridget Holmes Tissue and son-in-law Mike Tissue, loving daughter Clara Louise Holmes Parker and son-in-law George Parker. She was so proud of her grandchildren and loved them so much: Darby Holmes and wife Becky, Bradie Holmes Young and husband Ryland, Camden Tissue and wife Amy, Kelsey Tissue Smith and husband Jeffrey, Kailey Tissue McCollum and husband Mike, Kaygan Tissue, Trey Parker and wife Maysel, and Audrey Parker. Her nine great grandchildren were the loves of her life, and they loved their G Maw Maw so much. They are Quincy and Percy Tissue, Everly, Maelyn and Colette McCollum, Whitten and Ellison Smith, and Reese and Quade Parker.
A holy rosary will be offered by Father Pat Garrett at 6:00 PM at Klein Funeral Home, 9719 Wortham Blvd., Houston, TX 77065 followed by a memorial service at 6:30 PM Friday, January 20, 2023. Sue's final resting place and burial will take place at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 3900 Twin City Highway, Groves, TX 77619 on Saturday, January 21, 2023 at 12:00. Mom, Maw Maw, G Maw Maw will be greatly missed as she was the most loving, supportive and strong matriarch of our family. She leaves behind a wonderful legacy and in her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Sue was loved by all those who knew her. We will miss her beautiful smile and the way she loved us all.
