Susan Lynn West, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and sister, passed away on October 16, 2026, at the age of 67. Born on September 3, 1959, in Youngstown, Ohio, Susan was the daughter of the late Larry and Donna Mahaffey McDaniel. She will be remembered for her deep love for her family, her generous heart, and the joy she found in the simple pleasures of life.
Before becoming a homemaker, Susan worked in the accounts receivable department for DHL, a shipping company. Her greatest joy, however, was caring for her family and making sure those she loved always knew how special they were. Susan took great pride in loving and spoiling her family, and her home and heart were always filled with love.
Susan shared 33 wonderful years of marriage with her beloved husband, David West, who was the love of her life. Together, they built a family and a lifetime of memories that will be cherished forever. Susan had a special fondness for antiquing, although David would lovingly tell you that her passion extended to just about any kind of shopping! She also enjoyed listening to the music of the classic country artists, finding comfort and happiness in the familiar songs she loved.
Above all else, Susan treasured her children and grandchildren. She leaves behind a legacy of love through her five children: James West and his wife, Daphne; David West II and his wife, Lucy; Jamie Rizzo and her husband, Vincent; Chelsey West; and Jacob West and his wife, Jamille. Her greatest blessings included her seven beloved grandchildren, Alyssa, Haley, Olivia, David III, Tessa, Nicholas, and Zoey, whom she adored with all her heart. Each held a special place in her life, and the love she gave them will remain a treasured part of their memories for years to come.
Susan is also survived by her sisters, Karen Wawrosch, Debbie George, and Linda Pittmann and her husband, Matt; her sister Donna Johnson and her husband, Keith; and her brother-in-law, Brent Metzler.
She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Larry and Donna McDaniel; her sister, Sandy Metzler and her brother, Larry “Bud” McDaniel.
Though Susan’s passing leaves an immeasurable emptiness in the hearts of those who loved her, her memory will live on through the family she cherished, the laughter she shared, and the countless ways she showed her love. She will be remembered for her devotion to her husband, her unwavering love for her children, her boundless affection for her grandchildren, and the special moments that made her who she was.
Susan’s greatest legacy is the love she gave so freely and the family she held so close. She will be deeply missed, forever loved, and always remembered by those fortunate enough to have shared in her life.
Her love will live on in the hearts of her family and friends forever.
