Susan Joann Anderson, 79, born on May 12, 1947, is now whole, healed, and in the presence of Jesus Christ. She leaves behind her beloved husband of 57 years, Roger, whose steadfast love and devotion were the foundation of the beautiful life they built together.

She is survived by her beloved husband, Roger Anderson; her son, Phillip Anderson; her daughter in law, Atalie Kerne Anderson; her cherished granddaughter, Miller Anderson; her treasured grandson, Dutch Anderson, all of Houston; her sister, Helen and Roger Frazior of Hot Springs, Arkansas; and many beloved brothers and sisters in law, nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

Susan's great love story began when she married Roger. For 57 years, they chose each other every day, building a marriage rooted in unwavering devotion, filled with laughter, friendship, and unconditional love. They were true partners in every sense, celebrating life's greatest joys and walking hand in hand through life's greatest challenges. Together, they created a home where family was cherished, friends were always welcome, and love was given freely. Anyone who knew Susan knew how deeply she loved Roger, and anyone who knows Roger knows there was never a question how deeply he loved Susan in return.

Susan faithfully served students for 38 years as a U.S. History teacher, spending the majority of her career at Campbell Junior High in Cy Fair ISD. She believed every student deserved encouragement and respect, and she had a remarkable ability to make history come alive while making each child feel seen and valued. She had a gift for teaching, a servant's heart, and a quiet strength that touched generations of students, colleagues, and families.

One of Susan's closest friends shared these words that perfectly captured who she was:

"Susan was an excellent teacher with the right mix of discipline and sincere caring. A leader to all who knew her, she never held back when she had something to say about anything. I loved that about her."

Susan found beauty in God's everyday blessings. She loved tending to her flowers and plants, gathering with her treasured book club, and spending time with her wide circle of precious friends. She cultivated friendships as faithfully as she cared for her garden, with her gentle spirit, warm smile, and listening ear making everyone feel welcome.

Nothing brought Susan greater joy than her family. To Roger, she was his sweetheart and faithful partner for 57 wonderful years. To Phillip, she was a constant source of unconditional love, support, and wisdom. To Miller and Dutch, she was simply Susu. Whether cheering them on at their sporting events, celebrating life's milestones, or creating everyday memories, being their Susu was one of her life's greatest blessings, and there was no place she would rather have been than with them.

Although Phillip was her only child, Susan's love extended far beyond her immediate family. Her many nieces and nephews, along with Phillip's friends, were like children to her, and she treasured each relationship. She faithfully stayed connected with them throughout the years, celebrating their accomplishments and never missing an opportunity to remind them they were loved.

"A cord of three strands is not quickly broken."

Susan, Roger, and Phillip built a life woven together by love and family. Though one strand has now been called home, the cord remains unbroken. Her family finds peace in knowing she is whole, healed, and forever in the presence of Jesus, while the love she poured into her husband, family, friends, and students will continue to strengthen generations to come.

Susan's greatest legacy was not found in the lessons she taught, the flowers she nurtured, or even the many years she faithfully served others. It was found in the people she loved. Her life was a beautiful example of steadfast love, quiet strength, and genuine kindness. Though she will be deeply missed, her legacy lives on in Roger, Phillip, Atalie, Miller, and Dutch; in the generations of students she inspired; and in the countless family members and friends who were blessed to know her.

Until we meet again, she will forever be our beloved wife, Mom, Susu, teacher, and friend.
