Susan Beth Adkins, 71, passed away February 22, 2020 in Houston, Texas after a long illness. She was born in El Dorado, Arkansas, was a member of the Baptist church and graduated from the University of Arkansas with a B.A. degree.

She was a member of the Kappa Alpha Theta sorority and was active in the Houston Junior Forum and National Charity League. Susan was a teacher for many years in the Klein school district where she received several teaching awards. She was a dedicated educator as well as a loving wife and mother.

Susan was preceded in death by her son Thomas (Tommy) R. Adkins, Jr. and her parents Omer J. and Lyda Grace Calhoon. She is survived by her husband of almost 46 years Thomas Ronald Adkins and daughter Amy Adkins. Susan's love and caring also encompassed her extended family…her brothers and sisters-in-law: Jan Calhoon (Sheila), Ken Calhoon (Maureen), Rick Calhoon (Ann) and brother-in-law Patrick Adkins (Linda). She had many nieces and nephews who loved their Aunt Susan.

Susan had a big heart and would do anything she could to help others. Her smile and sense of humor will be sorely missed by friends and family. Although her family was scattered and the family reunions were few in recent years…we all knew we would receive a phone call on every birthday and holiday because she never forgot.

The world got a little darker without Susan's bright light. She will be missed.
