Sue Ann (Leyrer) Durrett, 85, passed away peacefully on March 1, 2026.

Sue was born on November 27, 1940, in Hamilton, Ohio, to Mary "Betty" E. (Dilg) Leyrer and Dr. Earl C. Leyrer. She was preceded in death by her parents; her cherished husband, Dr. Ray Robert "Bob" Durrett; and her brother, Dr. E. Thomas "Tom" Leyrer.

Sue met Bob during her time as a nurse at Duke University. They married at Duke Chapel on March 5, 1966, embarking on a shared journey centered around faith, family, and adventure. In 1968, they relocated to San Antonio for Bob's service in the U.S. Air Force, and two years later made Houston their home, where they raised their three children together.

A devoted wife and mother, Sue proudly served as the "CEO" of her household, creating a home filled with love, strength, and encouragement. She is survived by her children: Michelle Hunter (Tom), Beth McGarry (Scott), and Stephen Durrett (Brandie); and her cherished grandchildren: Elizabeth (Kevin Kulda), Catherine, Paul, Jack, Peter, and Sterling.

Sue was an active member of the Texas Garden Club and National Garden Club for more than 30 years and served as President of the Texas Garden Club from 2003 to 2005. She and Bob shared a love of travel, from Caribbean cruises to trips to Australia, always embracing life together.

Sue will be laid to rest on March 5, 2026 — the 60th anniversary of her marriage to Bob — a beautiful reminder of the enduring love they shared.
