Steven L. "Steve" Nixon, 55, of Houston, Texas, went to be with the Lord on Monday, December 22, 2025.

Steve was born on July 18, 1970, in London, Ohio, to the late Terry L. and Pamela A. (Violet) Nixon.

Following his graduation from Mechanicsburg High School with the Class of 1988, Steve went on to attend The Ohio State University. He was a devoted husband and a proud, loving father, and time spent with his family was always his greatest joy. Whether he was cheering on Mechanicsburg football, watching his beloved Ohio State Buckeyes, following the Houston Texans, Houston Astros, or the Chicago Cubs, or simply being outdoors cooking for family and friends, Steve found happiness in the moments shared with those he loved most. He was known for his skill at the grill and never missed an opportunity to bring people together around good food and laughter.

Steve also had an incredible passion for coaching and mentoring the future generation of athletes. He dedicated countless hours to coaching football, baseball, and softball, taking great pride in guiding young athletes — and especially in supporting and coaching his own talented children. Teaching, encouraging, and celebrating their growth both on and off the field was one of his greatest sources of pride and joy.

In recent years, Steve found happiness in new hobbies, including caring for his growing collection of plants and embracing his creative side through Painting with a Twist. Whatever he was doing, he brought enthusiasm, warmth, and his signature smile.

Most of all, Steve will be remembered for his kindness, his bright energy, and the genuine care he showed to everyone in his life. He was a mentor and an incredible co-worker who deeply valued his team at Fairway Home Mortgage. Steve was truly one of the good ones and will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.

Steve is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Cindy (Hedges) Nixon; his sons, Cameron Nixon and Ryan Nixon (Calvin Bond); his daughter, Bailey Nixon (Alyssa Wilson); his sister, Peggy (Shayne) Sparks; his brother, Randy Nixon; sister-in-law, Amy (Tom) Jones; nieces, Mallory (Ethan) Elliott, Tracy (Christian) Bishop, and Samantha Jones; nephews, Logan (Emily) Johnson and Joshua Jones; great-nephew, Ivan Bishop; and many cousins and dear friends who became his extended family.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A gathering of family and friends will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, January 3, 2026, at:
