Steve Martinez attained salvation on August 30, 2021.  He is survived by his parents, Jim and Helen; his brothers and their wives Jeff and Jenny, Jaime and Kristin and the loves of his life, nephews Christian, Jaime, Sam and Cayson; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Steve is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, William and Manuelita Martinez; maternal grandparents, James and Julia Tafoya, Uncle John and Aunt Connie Ruybol; Aunt Sandra Santistevan; and Cousin Paul Martinez.  And finally little big sister Shelly, to whom he devoted his life as champion, defender and partner in crime.

Steve is a native of Colorado but a proud naturalized Texan and avid Texas A&M Aggie.  He was raised in the Cypress-Fairbanks area of Houston, Texas.  He received his early Catholic religious education at Christ the Redeemer church, active and serving in leadership of the parish Youth Group.  His faith journey continued as a parishioner of the Prince of Peace Catholic Community where he is an ACTS brother.

Steve attended Adam Elementary, Arnold Junior High and graduated from Cy-Fair High School where he was active in youth sports including football, track and soccer.  He attended Texas A&M University, where in addition to majoring in the Corps of Cadets, Steve was on the Rugby team and represented the Corps in campus boxing matches.

Steve's lifelong passion for singing began in junior high, continued in college and remained through adult life. Steve was an award winning vocalist performing individually, in small groups and in chorus.  He founded and was lead singer in a rock band or two, some of which his dad could almost tolerate.

As a young adult, Steve discovered a second passion: acting!  He appeared in both community and professional theater in supporting and leading roles. His acting career included roles in several independent films.

If you know Steven, you know that although he carried his cross, he was Jesus to others. Liked by everyone, loved by many; a ready smile and offering unconditional love and support to everyone who touched his life and was in need: a fitting legacy.
