Steven Ronald Gibson was born at Ft. Riley Kansas on August 22, 2952. He was the second of four children to Alfred and Lydia Gibson. When still a baby the family moved back to their home town of San Antonio and it was there Steve grew up, attending Holmes High School. Wanting to study engineering he attended Texas A & M University where he joined the Corps of Cadets. Graduating in December 1975 (one more football season!) he was commissioned into the Army that same day. He left for basic Armor training at Ft. Knox in April. He had married in March 76 and as soon as classes were finished his bride, Lisa, joined him in Kentucky. When his officers training and tank school was completed in October, he was stationed in Bamberg, Germany. His unit was one of the East/West Germany border patrol. In 1980 Steve left the Army and joined the business world taking a job in Houston. In the fall of 1988 he became a father to his beloved Marcia, then again in 1991, welcoming his also beloved Lori Dale. In 2003 the ugly specter of cancer reared its ugly head and he began a hard fought battle, all the while working and caring for his family. He finally retired in January 2019. Always positive, always optimistic and always seeing the good side of things, his courage and spirit will be so greatly missed.
