Steven Ray Carver, age 56, was the youngest of three children born to Clarence and
Nancy Fry Carver on November 14, 1962 in Kansas City,MO.  He grew up in a loving
Christian home on a farm in Kearney,MO. He was a loving husband and father and his
parenting style is not unlike that of his own parents. They have preceded him in
death and would be very proud of the man he became, the life he lived, and the
children that are his legacy.  Like his parents, he made sure his home, cars, and
relationships stayed in good repair.  He was a loving husband, father, and friend
whose wisdom and knowledge on a wide variety of topics was respected by all. His
household was peaceful and always filled with love. His quick wit and ability to
recall obscure facts and events will also be greatly missed.
Steve loved sports and music throughout his life and was also involved in Youth For
Christ. He lettered in football in high school while also playing trumpet in the
band, occasionally being called upon to perform at halftime while still wearing his
football uniform.
He graduated with a degree in Management Information Systems from Central Missouri
State University in 1985 (now University of Central Missouri) and was recruited by
an oil company to Houston.  He was amenable to the move since his older brother,
Mike, had also relocated to Houston after college. He met Sharon, the love of his
life that summer and they were married in 1987.  They enjoyed over 31 years of
marriage and had 2 wonderful children, Christie and Kyle of whom Steve was immensely
proud.  His wisdom and love of Christ always guided his family with sound advice.
He loved being outdoors and his favorite hobbies were fishing and hunting.  He and
Sharon had always planned to retire someplace in the county happily living out their
lives going on trips to explore and Steve cooking barbecue - his other passion in
life.  His nickname was BBQ Steve and he spent decades honing his skill yet was
always interested in learning more. He freely shared his knowledge on the subject
with anyone wanting to learn.  He loved to cook for family, friends, and coworkers
and especially loved hearing what they thought about it. His son, Kyle, also shares
that passion. The day before Steve's passing they were happily barbequeing together.
Steve worked in downtown Houston as a Lead Developer at Plains All-American
Pipeline, L.P. and was recently honored for his 30th anniversary with the company.
He and Sharon loved to meet each other for lunch and would take day or weekend trips
to explore places they had never been. She has lost the love of her life and her
best friend, but Steve has also left a hole in the hearts of all who knew him.

He is survived by his wife, Sharon, son Kyle, daughter Christie, sister Beverly
Carter and her husband Paul, brother Mike and his wife RuthAnn, nephews Ethan Carver
and his wife Taylor, Price Carter and his wife Allison, nieces Natalie Fennell and
her husband Caleb, Paige Carter, grandniece Morgan Carver, grandnephew Liam Fennell,
and the many friends whom he loved and loved him.
He was a great man who has passed into the arms of Jesus. At our own appointed time,
we know Steve will be there with Him to excitedly greet and welcome us to our new
home in Heaven.  We will meet again.

A time of visitation will be held from 6 to 8 pm on Thursday, February 7, 2019 at Klein Funeral Home, 9719 Wortham Blvd, Houston, TX 77065. A memorial service will be held at 2 pm on Friday, February 8, 2019 at Cypress Bible Church at 1171 Cypress North Houston Rd., Houston, TX 77429.  A private family burial will be held.
