STEVEN WESCOTT BERNARD

July 29, 1948-September 15, 2026

On September 15, 2026, Steven Wescott Bernard passed peacefully surrounded by his family, as he wished. He was brought into this world by his mother, Joan Ellen Bernard, and his father, John David Bernard in Newport, Rhode Island. His father served in the Navy and his mother was a nurse. He led a very fulfilling and intriguing life. He grew up throughout the world including places such as Japan, Morocco, and Charleston, South Carolina. He enlisted in the Navy in 1967 and served 6 honorable years as a Navy diver and underwater specialist. He was a determined man and achieved a degree in Ocean Engineering and a Masters in Environmental Management. Steven was well known in the Oil and Gas community in Houston. He loved to fish, build walking sticks for loved ones, and spend time with his kids and grandkids. He was a huge Astros fan and developed his love for the game when he was a pitcher as a teenager. He is survived by his son Brian Bernard, his two daughters Brooke Bernard and Leigh Chatham and son-in-law Joseph Chatham. He is also survived by 6 beautiful grandkids that all love and adore him. He will be truly missed, but never forgotten.
