Steve C. Yarberry (76) passed away peacefully on September 16, 2023, with his devoted daughter, Stacy, lovingly by his side and holding his hand.

Born October 5, 1946, near Texarkana, Arkansas, Steve is the son of the late Chester Arthur Yarberry and Letha Nichols Yarberry. He grew up in Shreveport, Louisiana. Steve loved spending time on the water. He was a talented water skier and part of the Caddo Ski-Bees team in Shreveport. He also loved fishing on the lake with family and friends. Steve was a man of few words and simple pleasures, one of those pleasures was his 1969 Dodge Charger. He caught "Dodge Fever" in 1969. Chester, his father, and Steve went and purchased the vehicle brand new in February 1969 for $4654.00. That is when he joined the Dodge Rebellion and the "White Hat Guys". He held on to his Charger for his entire life. He passed on his love of Mopar and muscle cars down to his daughter and three grandchildren. During his later years, Stacy would take over the responsibility of this one family-owned LEGACY Charger. She loved taking her father for rides and to community car shows in his "Blue Bird".

At 24, Steve joined the Air Force and proudly served his country from 1970-1974 in Cheyenne, Wyoming. After his service in the Air Force, he moved back to Louisiana to complete his Bachelor's degree in Economics, (with a minor in Business) from Louisiana Tech University in 1975. He then moved his family to Houston, Texas to pursue job opportunities in the Oil and Gas industry. He lived the rest of his life in Houston, Texas.

Steve was a Texan at heart, standing tall in his cowboy boots and black felt hat.  He loved to country western dance and whip. He spent many years as a country western dance instructor in Houston sharing his love for Texas-style two-stepping. He shared this love of country dancing with his daughter and granddaughters. All of them also grew up loving to two-step in neon lights and will continue that tradition for him.

Steve not only passed on his LEGACY Charger but also his strong belief in higher education. He encouraged his daughter and grandchildren to attend college and stressed the importance of a college education. His daughter Stacy is a college graduate, and she is a Texas Longhorn. His grandson, Sam, graduated from Texas State University. His granddaughter, Caroline, currently attends Texas State University. He was also proud to know that his daughter Stacy will graduate with her MBA in less than eight weeks.  Steve's "LEGACY" was to empower his child. His wish and desire as a father was to empower, lead, and guide Stacy to bravely take on life, to lead with her heart, to dance, and enjoy the ride.

Preceded in death by his father, Chester Arthur Yarberry, his mother, Letha Nichols Yarberry, sister, Sherren Y. Stanford, and brother, Phil A. Yarberry; he is survived by his daughter Stacy Dobbs, grandson Sam Dobbs IV, and granddaughters Caroline and Demi Dobbs.

A memorial service will be held Friday, September 22, 2023, at 2:00 PM at Klein Funeral Home – Tomball. 1400 West Main, Tomball, TX 77375. The burial will be held Tuesday, September 26, 2023, at 1:00 PM in Texarkana, Arkansas, Memorial Gardens Cemetery next to his father and mother.
