Stanley Martin Robertson

October 25, 1935 – November 23, 2018

Stanley Martin Robertson went to be with the Lord on Friday, November 23, 2018. Stan was born October 25, 1935 in Fort Worth, Texas to Edith Eulalia Searcy Robertson and Stanley James Robertson. He graduated from Polytechnic High School in Fort Worth, and the University of North Texas in Denton, Texas, where he was a member of the Delta Sigma Phi fraternity. He served in the United States Army from 1955 to 1958, in several U.S. locations and in Europe.

Stan was an accountant and worked for several large companies, including Mobil Oil, Kellogg, and Brown and Root, as well as several small companies. In his younger years, he was active in Institute of Management Accountants (IMA), where he served on the executive board as vice president and director, during his 25-year participation.  He was also active for many years in Lions Club International. He volunteered for several organizations, including Special Olympics, Meals on Wheels, and Ronald McDonald House. The Methodist church was always an important part of his life, starting at Polytechnic UMC in Fort Worth, continuing at Whiterock UMC in Dallas, then Marvin UMC in Tyler, and finally Lakewood UMC in Houston.

Family meant everything to Stan. In addition to his immediate family, he loved his cousins and many relatives, near and far, and received great joy by being able to keep in touch with family members. But his ultimate joy was spending time with his six grandchildren. In addition to family, tennis was a source of great happiness for Stan.  He played tennis from college through adulthood, and in his later years, became a dedicated fan, encouraging all his family members to enjoy the game.

Stan was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Judy Robertson, his children, Courtney Robertson (Daniel Drasin) and Christopher Robertson (Stacey Robertson), and his grandchildren, Joshua Drasin, Michael Ziverk, Grace Drasin, Ella Grace Robertson, Rachel Robertson, and Sophie Robertson. He is also survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Linda and Don Campbell, and their children Carla Sobecko, Craig Campbell and Caryn Craft. Survivors also include his sisters-in-law, Billye Hartman and June Dunlap, and his niece Teresa Austin (Ski) and their daughter Hayley.

A memorial service to honor Stan's life will be held on Thursday, November 29, 2018 at 2:00pm at Lakewood United Methodist Church, 11330 Louetta Road, Houston, TX, 77070. Should friends desire, memorial contributions can be made to the Special Olympics, Star of Hope (Houston), or the charity of your choice.
