Stanley "Stan" Marvin Hoekstra, son to the late Teunis and Ida Hoekstra of Sioux Center Iowa was born on September 10, 1933. After living a fulfilled life, Stan passed away July 17, 2021 after a second battle with Prostate cancer.

In June 1955 Stan was drafted into the Army in anti-aircraft missile battalions serving through June 1957. He was stationed at Fort Bliss, Texas and then served overseas in Germany. After the Army Stan attended Calvin college in Grand Rapids Michigan where he met his surviving spouse Evelyn. Stan and Evelyn were married June 1961, and then moved to Chicago where Stan attended DeVry Technical College. After graduating, Stan went to work for the Perkin Elmer Corporation who then transferred them to live in Maryland and work in Washington DC. In Maryland, Stan and Evelyn had their first son Anthony. They were then transferred to Connecticut where their second son Charles was born. In 1972 they were once again transferred, this time to Wisconsin, just outside of Milwaukee. In 1981, Perkin Elmer Corporation transferred Stan and his family one last time to Houston Texas.

Stan decided to take an early retirement in 1996. Now with plenty of spare time, Stan focused on his passion of Ford Model T cars. He became editor of the Space City T's monthly newsletter and was a very active member in club events. In the 2000's, Stan and Evelyn were founding members of Lifepath Christian Church. Stan loved to sing in the church choir. In the early years of the church, the congregation met at Watkins Middle School. Every weekend Stan would hook the church's trailer to his Ford F150 to setup the school for Sunday service. If you knew Stan, then you knew he bled Ford blue. For this reason, his heart was broken when one of his sons later put a Chevrolet engine into a Ford car.

Those who were lucky to know Stan would say he was full of hospitality and full of love. Stan is survived by his devoted wife of 60 years Evelyn Hoekstra, son Anthony, son Charles, daughter in law Jessica as well as his three granddaughters, Lauren, Emilie and Jillian.
