Spurgeon Farrington Lambeth passed away after a serious illness on January 31, 2018 surrounded by his loving family. He was born on June 9, 1940 to Charles Hite and Callie Warner Lambeth in Thomasville, NC. Spurge was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend.

He attended Catawba College in Salisbury, NC on a football scholarship and graduated in 1962 with a BS in Business Administration. His first job was with Goodyear Tire & Rubber in Camden, SC. He was drafted and served in the US Marine Corp with honor.

After service in the Marines, he moved to Charlotte, NC where he began a long and successful career with Exxon USA. That is where he met and married Barbara, a spunky nurse. His career with Exxon led them to Houston in 1976 where he retired after 36 years.

In retirement he enjoyed travel with Barbara and his family. He was also an avid golfer and tennis player.

Volunteering has always been a huge part of his life. He was active in the community and ExxonMobil. In retirement he spent 3 years as a Board of Director of the Northwood ExxonMobil Retiree Club and worked at the Center of the Mentally Challenged and YMCA "Camp Pine Tree" among others.

Spurge was a true Southern Gentleman, a man of great honor and faith. He and his family have been long time members of Lakewood United Methodist where he ushered for years.

He is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Dean. Spurge is survived by his beloved wife of 51 years, Barbara; children, Scott Lambeth (Tammy) and London Topaz (Justin); grandchildren Emma and Andrew Lambeth of Signal Mountain, TN and Sydney and Carly Topaz of Tomball, TX; brother, Clay Lambeth (Marilyn) of Fletcher, NC and sister, Jeanette Fulk of Pilot Mountain, NC.

He will be missed by all who knew him. He always had a light hearted sense of humor and a "twinkle in his eye" showing his deep love for family especially his grandchildren and friends.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 15 from 5 – 7 p.m. at Klein Funeral Home (16131 Champion Forest Dr.) The Memorial Service will be held Friday, February 16 at 11:00 a.m. at Lakewood United Methodist Church at 11330 Louetta Road, Houston, TX.
