Sonia "Sunny" Mary (Leskow) Amabile, age 74, passed away peacefully on April 19 th , 2017 at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas, surrounded by her loving family.  Sonia, known as Sunny for her cheerful and social demeanor, was born on November 14, 1942 in Memphis, Tennessee and was the oldest of five siblings to Mr. and Mrs. William and Katherine (Sawka) Leskow.  Sunny was a graduate of Hanover Park High School, East Hanover, New Jersey.  She married her husband, Richard "Dick" Amabile, on September 12 th, 1970.  Together Sunny and Dick raised their three loving children: Brian, Cheryl and Mike (as well as multiple pets).  Sunny moved with her family to Kingwood, Texas, in 1991 from Trumbull, Connecticut.  Sunny will forever be remembered by those who know her as a loving mother, adoring daughter, supportive sister, devoted wife and caring friend, but her most special and preferred role was that of "Grandma."  Sunny loved her six grandchildren with everything she had, and her devotion to them never wavered.  Her love for family was evident in all she did, but was most prominently noted in the joy she found when celebrating birthdays, anniversaries, special occasions, and holidays.  Sunny was at her happiest surrounded by family, friends, and an array of Christmas decorations.

Sunny is survived by her husband of 46 years, Dick Amabile of Cypress, Texas; son Brian Amabile and his wife, Jill, of Lucas, Texas; daughter Cheryl Amabile Oliver and her husband, Landon, of Cypress, Texas; and son Michael Amabile of Cypress Texas.  Sunny is also survived by her loving grandchildren: Michaela, Nick, and Natalee Amabile and Benjamin, William and Ethan Oliver.  Sunny's surviving sisters include Patricia Detjen of Traverse City, Michigan; Nancy "Chris" Leighton of Whippany, New Jersey; and Jane Jones of West Chester, Pennsylvania, as well as her sister-in-law Gail Leskow of Port St. Lucie, Florida.  Sunny was preceded in death by her father, William Leskow and her mother Katherine (Sawka) Leskow, as well as her brother, William Leskow, Jr. . The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 8:00, Tuesday, April 25, 2017 at Klein Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 10:00, Wednesday April 26, 2017 at St Katherine Drexel Catholic Church, 800 F.M. 1488, Hempstead, Texas 77445.  For those wishing donations should be made in the name of Sonia Amabile to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
