Skylar Nicole Cook passed away suddenly on Thursday, February 17, 2022. She was 20 years old.
Skylar lived a free-spirited life. She made friends easily and was a fierce lover of animals, especially those that were injured or needed a home. She was always the kid with rocks (or lizards) in her pockets and was happiest outdoors. There wasn't a tree she couldn't build a fort in, and few escaped her decorator's touch, which mostly involved disassembled items from home. She loved getting her hands in the dirt and planting flowers with her family members. She had the kindest heart and could make anyone smile with her wry humor.
Skylar attended both Cy-Fair High School in Cypress, Texas, and Oak Creek Ranch School in Arizona, where she solidified her passion for horses. The kid could run a mean barrel race. Most recently, Skylar worked in Garrison, Texas, as a barn hand taking care of rescued horses and dogs. She couldn't stand the idea of the barn cats sleeping outside, so to her boss's dismay, brought them all into her home every night. She had found her dream job.
Skylar is survived by her parents, Jason and Heather, her siblings Haley and Mackenzie, her grandparents Patrick and Kathie Sadler, Dale and Vicki Churchman, and Jeff and Joan Cook. Services will be held on Monday, February 28, 2022, at 2 p.m. at the Klein Funeral Home - Champions.
