Shirley Ann Trottier Overton passed away with her children by her side on August 21, 2021, at the age of 89. She was born in Worcester, MA to Theodore and Lillian (Bouley) Trottier and was the oldest of six children. She met the love of her life, Billy James Overton at a USO dance. Billy and Shirley married in 1954 and then moved to New Orleans where they raised their four children, and eventually settled in Houston.

Shirley was a dedicated Catholic who practiced her faith by being selfless and putting others first. She enjoyed volunteering for Meals on Wheels, her church, and at her children's schools. She was a masterful cook of Cajun cuisine and has passed down recipes that will be cherished. She was an amazing seamstress and created countless matching outfits for her girls and grandchildren. She passed along her love of card and board games, and always had time to play a game of gin or Scrabble. She enjoyed life and loved playing tennis, bridge, and poker with her closest friends. Shirley's greatest love was spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Shirley is preceded in death by her parents, Theodore and Lillian Trottier and siblings, Lorraine Janzow, Pauline Provencher, Robert Trottier, and Richard Trottier. She is also survived by her children David (Leslie) Overton, Karen Green, Kim (Robert) Brown, and Kelly (Sebastien) Gerletti and grandchildren Jennifer, Brittany, Matthew (Shannon), Travis (Monica), Chelsea, Anna Claire, Cole, and MacKensi, as well as her five great-grandchildren, Sophia, Layla, Leo, Abigail, and Luke.

Our family would like to express our appreciation for the staff at the Village of Gleannloch Farms for all of their love and care for Shirley these last three years. We were at peace knowing that she was happy and brought joy and laughter to those around her.

A funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, October 13th at 10:30 a.m. in the Mary Chapel at Prince of Peace Catholic Church.  In the afternoon, Shirley will be laid to rest at Houston National Cemetery beside her eternal love, Billy.  In lieu of flowers, a tribute gift may be made to the Alzheimer's Association at act.alz.org .
