Shirley Frances Hayes, of Houston, Texas, passed away October 13, 2025.
Frances was originally from Nashville, Tennessee. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. Lacy Thomas Hayes, Sr. and Frances (Cook) Hayes, both of Nashville, Tennessee, and her beloved brothers, Jim Hayes of Hatfield, PA and Robert Hayes of Memphis, Tennessee.
Frances is survived by her husband Raymond Gaffney of Houston, Texas, and his children, Logan Gaffney and Jordan Gaffney of Yukon, Oklahoma; brother Tom (Diane) Hayes of Nashville, Tennessee; She had numerous nieces and nephews as well as their children, located all over the United States and abroad, whom she absolutely adored.
She is also survived by an entire lifetime of friends that she built her world around, becoming an integral part of their families along the way. Frances had a very successful professional life and career built entirely in Houston, Texas. She led many successful staffing programs for some extraordinary clients, building a network of peers and team members that became lifelong friends.
Frances was the proud Mom of her fur-babies, Gracie and Bo, who gave her a run for her money every single day.
The family would like to extend our most sincere appreciation and heartfelt thanks to Dr. Issa F. Khouri and his unbelievable Stem Cell Team at MDAnderson Cancer Center. It was due to Dr. Khouri's tenacious dedication to Frances and her care for over 20 years that she was able to successfully beat AML. Not once, but twice. Ultimately Dr. Khouri became a trusted friend, and we will forever be in his debt for the precious additional time we were able to spend with her.
A Celebration of Life and family and friends visitation will be held on Sunday, November 2, 2025 from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm at Sterling Country Club, 16500 Houston National Boulevard, Houston, Texas 77095.
In lieu of flowers, Frances loved so many local animal shelters and organizations in the Greater Houston Area, so please consider making a memorial donation in honor of her and her fur-babies Gracie and Bo, or go ASAP and adopt a fur-baby of your own in your area.
