Shing Hung Tom, 74, of Houston passed away on February 7, 2023 surrounded by his wife and family due to complications in his health.  He was born in Canton, China to the late Dung Yao Tom and Chung Hern Chan.  Shing married Joyce Dea in 1974 and soon afterwards moved to the United States where together they raised their three sons, Andy, Terry and Chesley.

He spent much time of his latter years with grandchildren, Chesley Jr., Alicia, Isaiah, Elisabeth, Nicholas, Gabriella, Abby, Aubree and Jacob.  He attended many grandchildren activities like watching Chesley Jr. making a tackle in a football game, Alicia spinning during her dance recital, Isaiah throwing a strike in a baseball game, Elisabeth dancing hip-hop, Nicholas riding a horse and eating dim sum with Gabriella.

He worked hard and opened a business named Southern Noodle Company.  He dedicated most of his life in making Southern Noodle Company to be known for the best quality and largest maker of Chinese fortune cookies in Texas and surrounding areas.  His business was also well-known for its fresh noodles, egg roll skin and won ton skin that were supplied to local restaurants.

Shing was able to speak well in five languages, Mandarin, Cantonese, Taishanese, Spanish and English.  Shing loved to watch football like the Houston Oilers.  He enjoyed going to casinos in Las Vegas and Louisiana.  He enjoyed winning big at the slot machines, poker and baccarat.  He loved to play poker at gatherings with his family.  Shing also enjoyed playing Chinese mahjong with his family.
