Sherry Lynne Scott Hogg, 73 of Tomball joined Her Lord and Savior on Resurrection Sunday, April 4, 2021.  She was born April 25, 1947 in Uvalde, Texas to the late William Dixon and Emma Goldie Scott.

Sherry is survived by her husband of 49 years, Allen B. Hogg of Tomball; daughter, Elise Hairell and husband Reed of Tomball; son, Craig Hogg of Tomball; daughter, Alanna Senulis and husband Drew of San Antonio; grandchildren, Abigail Hairell, Jordan Hairell, Rhett Hairell, Bryson Senulis and Collin Senulis; sister-in-law, Eileen Scott of Pasadena; nephew, Trevor Scott and wife Nicole of Pasadena; numerous other nephews, nieces, cousins and a host of friends.

Sherry is preceded in death by her parents, her brother Kenneth Scott and her sister and brother-in-law, Julia Ann and Bryant Hilliard.

Sherry was known to many as a talented cook, seamstress, and hobby silk florist but what you may not know is she played piano, she was not a concert pianist, but she loved it and it showed, her family was blessed to hear her play and the home always  felt still and quiet when she played.  If you talked to her more than 6 minutes on the phone, she was doodling, she was listening to you but rest assured she was doodling. There were spirals, smiley faces, and other silly things. Once she drew her subject she would begin shading it and coloring it in and all the while "uh huh….yeah….oh yeah?....what's that now?"  Sherry loved making everyone feel comfortable and welcome, this was most evident in planning meals, parties, weddings, shopping, sewing, house guests etc. She wanted to make you feel welcomed and appreciated, no stone left unturned and every detail covered.  At many of the family gatherings there was always a time of "Story Telling", she loved to tell stories of her childhood and her experiences. Themes would include her experiences of traveling to Uvalde and Concan, the Rio Grande Valley, her Granny Ruby (especially slaughtering the chickens), going to school (from elementary to Texas Tech), being an apartment manager and realtor, her car accident, all the different cats and dogs she had throughout life, the antics of her brother and father, and Dad and Craig eating dog treats reigns supreme in her mind.  Sherry was always there to help, she would drop everything to help someone, especially her kids and grandkids and she never expected anything in return just that you do the same if the situation presented itself.

She was "THE" perpetual student and was a big proponent of education and learning. Prior to Alzheimer's settling in, she would come across a new subject and she would want to learn more about it. One of her favorite things to say was "if you can read about it you can learn to do it and never rely on someone else to do it for you".  Her formal education included 1965 Graduate from Pasadena High School, 1969 Graduate from Texas Tech University with a BA in Home Economics Education, 1992 Certification in Early Childhood Education, 1994 Graduate from University of Houston Clear Lake with a Masters Degree in Special Education, and 2003 Graduate of Prairie View A&M with a Diagnostician of Special Education Certification.  Sherry retired in 2011 after 21 years of teaching.

The thing she was most proud of was her love of God, Jesus and First Christian Church.  She always made sure her family was at Sunday School, Worship, Youth Groups and ALL Church functions.  She served many roles within the church, Elder, leading education efforts, garage sales, youth camping trips, and coordinating countless other projects.

A time of visitation will be held from 10:00 am to 11:00 am with the funeral service to begin at 11:00 am on Tuesday, April 13, 2021 at the First Christian Church in Pasadena, 4848 Preston Rd., Pasadena, Texas 77505.  Graveside Services will follow at 2 pm at the Klein Memorial Park, 32539 SH 249 Pinehurst, Texas 77362.
