Sherron Jo Sparks Barrow Dressler passed away Monday, August 3, 2020, in The Woodlands, Texas, at the age of 81. Sherron was born in Topeka, Kansas, on September 19, 1938, to Clarence Roberts Sparks and Bertha Mildred Sherrod Sparks and was their only child. Raised in Abilene, Texas, she graduated from Abilene High School in 1956 and loved to go to baseball games with her dad. She went to Texas Christian University (TCU) and graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor in Fine Arts in 1960. She married Wendell Dale Barrow on August 5, 1961, and was a speech therapist in Port Arthur, Austin and Houston, Texas, before having her first son Douglas Dwayne Barrow on June 9, 1966. She took time off from her career to raise Douglas and her second son Darin Roberts Barrow born on July 26, 1968. She loved being a mother and attended all her sons' music and sporting activities and cherished being part of their lives. When her sons were old enough, she went back to work as a teacher at Bammel Elementary School teaching 1st and 2nd graders. She went on to teach 6th grade science at Bammel Middle School and, also, received a Master of Education from the University of Houston in 1980. Sherron retired as a teacher after 25 years in 1994. On December 20, 1992, she married Charles Robert Dressler, who she was happily married to until her death. She and Charlie spent most of their marriage traveling across Europe where she loved to visit old cathedrals, museums and historical locations. Charlie's daughter, Dori, has two daughters, Victoria and Melanie, and Sherron (aka Grammy) cherished her time with them, including her last overseas trip with them to Rome and Paris in 2016.

She was very active and passionate about Help Endangered Animals Ridley Turtles (HEART) whose mission was to save the Kemp Ridley Sea Turtles. She traveled down to Rancho Nuevo, Mexico, annually for several years to protect, tag and aid the hatchling turtles in their trek to the ocean. She was a licensed Texas Wildlife Rehabilitation Coalition member for 45 years and rehabilitated thousands of birds, squirrels and other wildlife animals. She was also a docent at the Houston Zoo for 20 years and loved seeing children get to know the animals.

She loved her TCU Horned Frogs, Houston Oilers/Texans and enjoyed attending games and cheering on her teams. She loved music and singing. She was a founding member of the Cypress Creek Christian Church and actively participated for 48 years. Most of those years, she was also a member of the choir and traveled to Europe performing in concerts. Two of her most memorable performances were singing in the cathedral of Notre Dame and Carnegie Hall.

Sherron is survived by her husband Charlie, son Douglas and his wife Blair Smith Barrow, and son Darin and his wife Angela Kathleen Barrow. She is survived by her step-daughter Dorinda Jane Evans and her husband Paul Lynn Evans and step-son Bradford Charles Dressler. She is also survived by two step-granddaughters Victoria Jane Evans and Melanie Lynn Evans.

Services are by invitation only and visitation will begin on Friday, August 14, with services to follow at Klein Funeral Home in Magnolia.
