Obituary

It is with heavy hearts and a profound sense of loss that we announce the passing of Shelby Gene Dickerson, a beloved resident of Tomball, Texas, who entered into eternal rest on Sunday, December 17, 2023, at the age of 56.

Shelby is preceded in death by his parents John Owen and Ruby Dickerson, and his brother Wayne Dickerson. He is survived by his cherished wife, Karin, and their daughters, Harlow Grace and bonus daughter Alice. Additionally, he leaves behind his sister, Elaine, and her husband Bill, of New Albany, Mississippi. The bond between Shelby and Elaine was renowned, a testament to the depth of their affection for one another.

A man of considerable stature both in physical presence and spirit, Shelby Dickerson had an indelible impact on everyone fortunate enough to know him. His laughter had the power to illuminate any room, and his compassion for others brought a unique warmth that will be sorely missed.

Shelby's dedication to his faith was unwavering, evident in his passionate walk with the Lord and his active service within his local church, the Church of Champions. Upon relocating to Texas for his career, Shelby wholeheartedly embraced the Texan way of life, adopting the iconic hats, boots, and guns. Despite this Texan transformation, he proudly proclaimed his Mississippi roots, particularly his fervent love for the 'Ole Miss Rebels.'

Shelby's zest for life was contagious, making him the undeniable life of every gathering. His genuine love for people transcended boundaries of race, religion, and culture, earning him the reciprocal admiration of a diverse community. A vital member of his local church, Shelby cherished his church family and dedicated himself to selfless service.

In Shelby's eyes, true wealth lay in his profound love for his Lord Jesus, his devoted wife Karin, and their precious daughters Harlow and Alice. His deepest longing was that all his family, friends, and neighbors would partake in the forgiveness he received, the love that embraced him, and the grace that transformed him. Shelby lived with the fervent hope that others would share in these blessings, praying earnestly for those around him to experience the same.

As we bid farewell to Shelby Gene Dickerson, we remember a man whose laughter echoed, whose love enveloped, and whose legacy of compassion will endure in the hearts of all who were touched by his presence. May his soul find eternal peace, and may his memory be a source of comfort to those who mourn his passing.
