Sheklun Man went to be with the Lord on October 21, 2018 after a brief struggle with kidney failure.  Visitation and wake service will be held on Friday, October 26th from 5-9 p.m. at Klein Funeral Home, 9719 Wortham Blvd., Houston TX 77065.  Funeral mass will be on Saturday, October 27th at 10:00 a.m. at St. Maximilian Catholic Church, 10135 West Road, Houston TX 77064.

Sheklun was born on September 9, 1932 in Zhongshan, Guangdong province, China, son of F.S. Man and Kam-man Pau.  After his father died when Sheklun was 9 years old, he spent his formative years in Hong Kong.  He graduated from Queen's College in Hong Kong and started working for the Post Office immediately after graduation.  He loved his postal career, which spanned 34 years, and made many lifelong friends during that time.  He first met his wife, May, at a Christmas party in 1955 and took their wedding vows on March 23, 1958; a marriage that lasted more than 60 years.

After retirement, Sheklun and May immigrated to the United States in 1987 to be closer to their children.  It was a period of bliss as they celebrated holidays and birthday parties with their children and grandchildren.  They also participated in activities and service opportunities in the Houston Chinese community, joined the Houston Chinese Photographic Society in 1989, and truly enjoyed the camaraderie with other club members and their numerous outings, sometimes to exotic locales.  Sheklun was also a member of the Photographic Society of America (PSA) and won a number of Gold Medals, Silver Medals, and Bronze Medals in Society-sanctioned competitions.  He reached his pinnacle in 2006 when he was awarded PSA's Distinction of Proficiency for Outstanding Achievement in International Exhibitions in the Color Slide, Nature, and Color Print Division in the Society's International Salon competition.

He is survived by his loving wife, May, four daughters: Dora and her husband Paul Yim, Connie and her husband Kevin Lacobie, Susan and her husband Esmond Yu, and Peggy; son: Tony and his wife Xiuting Cheng; grandchildren: Adrienne Yim, Yvette Lacobie and her husband Kenton Amshoff, Francois Lacobie, Quinnon Yu, Tannon Yu, and Raymond Man; great-grandson: Duke Amshoff; and extended family and friends.
