Sheila Ann Anderson passed away unexpectedly on June 5, 2024, at the age of 77, after enjoying lunch with a dear friend.  Her sweet smile and southern drawl will be deeply mourned by her surviving family and many friends.

Sheila was born on January 29, 1947, to Marian Jean Peterson Giffhorn and William Ernest Giffhorn in Portsmouth, New Hampshire.  She attended Lake Highlands High School where she was a straight A student and a drum major on the drill team.  Throughout her childhood, she enjoyed many trips with her grandparents and adored brother across the west, including wonderful times spent in Ruidoso, NM.  From an early age, she had an interest and aptitude for creating beauty in her surroundings.  She was talented at sewing her own clothes and cooking, and she eventually majored in Home Economics at Stephen F. Austin State University.  During this time, she met and married the love of her life, Tom Anderson, after they were introduced by mutual family friends.

After graduation from college, Sheila began her career in public education by teaching at Madison High School in HISD, and then moved to Spring, Texas, where she taught Home Economics, Family and Consumer Sciences, Fashion Design, and Pre-employment Child Care among other courses at Klein High School.  She also taught at Brookshire-Royal Middle School before finishing her career at Klein High School as a Career and Technical Education Counselor.  She was rightly proud of her career and positive influence on her students, and this set a wonderful example for her own children.  She always encouraged others to pursue educational opportunities and know how to take care of their homes and families.  Family and friends were extremely important to Sheila, and at each encounter, she managed to make a person feel special and loved.

Once married, Tom and Sheila began their life together in Sharpstown, then Spring and Brookshire, Texas, where they remained until their daughters completed high school.  During this time of their lives, they enjoyed the country life and creating a home where the girls were able to pursue their interests and Sheila could explore her many talents.  Many late nights and weekends were spent earning a master's degree in fashion design,  a counseling degree, sewing, tole painting, creating dolls, and knitting to name a few of her many hobbies.  She also kept everyone busy planting and maintaining flower beds, shrubs, indoor plants, and the garden.

Later in life, she and Tom moved to Tomball, Texas, where Sheila continued to teach and counsel until she retired from Klein High School after a stellar 44 years in education.  Throughout her life, former students continued to reach out to her on social media or she would see them in the community.  They were always ready to tell Mrs. Anderson how much they loved her and her class, and how much she meant to them.  Once retired, she didn't slow down, as she continued to substitute teach until just a few years ago, and then became increasingly involved in Delta Kappa Gamma - Beta Omicron and the Houston Garden Club.  After Tom passed away in 2022, she also became active with the Grief Share group at Trinity Klein - Lutheran Church, and she was greatly looking forward to teaching again by leading her own group.

Sheila's legacy lies in the lifelong friends she made, the students she taught, the family she adored, and the beauty she brought to those around her.  She was proud of her girls, the families they made, and the careers they chose.  She was always ready to lend a hand, give decorating advice, or wield a paint brush, as they created their own homes.  Above all, Mimi loved her grandchildren and could often be found at an ice rink watching her grandson play hockey or in an arena watching her granddaughters ride and show horses.  She was always present for their special occasions and made every holiday a wonderful memory for family and friends with her amazing cooking skills and flair for decorating.  Her faithful canine companion, Max, enjoyed his daily car rides and numerous treats, as Sheila spoiled him rotten as well.

Sheila was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved husband of 51 years, Tom Anderson.  She is survived by her two daughters, Kristen Beesaw and Laura Hart, their husbands, Kevin Beesaw and Danny Hart, and grandchildren, Evelyn Beesaw, Claire Beesaw, and Wyatt Hart.  She is also survived by her brother, Richard Giffhorn, his wife Nancy, and their children Andy Giffhorn (Austin, Braeden, and Colton), Jennifer and Kevin David (Nash), and Lisa and Wes Linder (William, Ethan, and Alice).

A celebration of life will be held at 2pm on Thursday, June 13, 2024, at Klein Funeral home - Tomball at 1400 West Main, Tomball, Texas.  Donations in her honor may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Shriners Hospitals for Children.
