Shawna Collins passed away on Sunday, January 25, 2026, in Bangor, Maine. She was born in Fairfax, Virginia, on May 29, 1972, to Cecil "Joe" Nelson and Carolyn Hall Nelson. She is survived by her parents, husband Sean Collins, and her five children (Morghann (Easton) Figueroa, Keaton (Brandon Dawkins) Milburn, Maegan (Benito) Barin, Brandon (Marla) Collins, Hannah Collins), six grandchildren (Beckham Figueroa, Benito Barin, Madden Figueroa, Camden Figueroa, Lillian Collins, Brooklyn Barin), three siblings (Shane (Kelsey) Nelson, Stefanee (Trent) Tolbert, Sarah (Nick) Fontenot), and 24 nieces and nephews.

The DeQuincy, Louisiana, native, the hometown that she loved deeply, worked over a decade in the call center and communications industries before becoming the Senior Director of Donor and Constituent Relations at Lakewood Church where she worked since 2013. She began a renowned event planning business (Shawna Collins Events), which she ran alongside numerous friends and colleagues. She was a talented businesswoman whose creativity and attention to detail gained widespread recognition both domestically and internationally.

Her driving passion was her family. She was a leader and caregiver whose presence and spirit will be sorely missed. She was passionate about sharing her experience and success in blending her and her husband's families through numerous panels and forums. Among the many places she traveled around the world, her favorite place was her round circle table at her home in Sugar Land, Texas, surrounded by loved ones, with laughter and joy filling the house.

In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations be given to the completion of the new Life Christian Academy (LCA) campus in Sulphur, Louisiana. LCA was founded by her sister, Stefanee, and mother with just a handful of students. The school has grown to over 300 and the state-of-the-art complex will allow it to equip future generations through exceptional education and grounded in Christian values. The memorial service will take place Saturday, February 7, at 1 p.m. in the main sanctuary of Lakewood Church in Houston, Texas. Visitation will precede the service at 12 p.m.
