Sharon G. Longworth, 69, of Jersey Village, died suddenly Oct. 20, 2016. She was born July 7, 1947 to Clifton (Red) and Ora Mae Johnson in Corsicana, TX. She graduated Aldine High School in 1965 and was a life-long resident of Houston. She began working in accounting for National Supply in 1965, retiring from National Oilwell Varco in 2009. Sharon married Dennis Longworth April 26, 1980, and they lived in Jersey Village most of their married life. They traveled widely and returned from a three-week trip to France, Italy and Ireland only two weeks before her death.

Cheerful, fun, thoughtful and caring, Sharon was loved by all who knew her.

She enjoyed playing softball in her earlier years, remained a sports fan throughout her life and was especially devoted to the Houston Texans. An avid reader, she loved seeing children in libraries, believing that reading is one of life's most valuable and enjoyable skills. She is survived by her husband Dennis, son Mark (Kim) Longworth and grandchildren Brandon and Becca of Herndon, VA; son Steve (Rose) Longworth and grandchildren Nate and Max of Middletown, OH. She is also survived by sister Carmelita (Carmen) Johnson and Jo Calverley of Garden City, TX, brother Carey Johnson of Conroe and many cousins and friends. Visitation will be 5 – 7 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 23 at Klein Funeral Home, 9719 Wortham Blvd., Houston. A funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 24 at the Klein Funeral Home Chapel with a graveside service at 3 p.m. Monday, Oct. 24 at Oakwood Cemetery in Corsicana. Pallbearers will be Brandon Longworth, Becca Longworth, Nate Longworth, Max Longworth, Sammy McGlothlin and Alex Halfmann. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to a library of one's choice or to a favorite charity. A light has gone out in the universe.
