Scott McAdams Ramey, 67, returned peacefully to his Heavenly Father on October 10th, 2017 surrounded by his family and pastor. He is preceded in death by his father Bill Ramey, mother Vivian Paulson, son Shawn Chandler, and step-father Frank Paulson. He is survived by his loving wife Trish Ramey, daughter Shannon Ramey, son Taylor with daughter-in-law Leslie Ramey, and grandson Jakob Tor. Siblings: Mark Ramey and wife Daphne, Cheryl Secrest and husband Andy, Donald Paulson and wife Tammy, Tommy Cryar and wife De'Lane, and mother-in-law "Nanny". Numerous sister-in-laws, nieces and nephews.
Scott was born in New Orleans on October 17, 1949. His family moved to Waukegan, Illinois when Scott was 5 years old and he was raised there through his graduation from Zion Benton High School in 1967. He served in the US Army during the Vietnam War and it was during his station in Germany that his beautiful daughter Shannon was born. In 1971, Scott returned home to Illinois where he lived before moving to Texas in the late 70's. Following in his father's footsteps, Scott went to work in the oil field, which was the beginning of the lifelong career that eventually led him to found and co-own the company Thermal Spray Specialists. In the field, Scott was both a dedicated employee and a gracious employer and leader. In the home, Scott was an amazingly dedicated husband and father and in his role as 'dad' to both Shawn and Taylor he went above and beyond. He received the greatest joy when spending time with his family—whether they were watching a movie or traveling the globe together—and he was always at his happiest when surrounded by loved ones, family and friends alike.
Scott loved the Lord fiercely, and dedicated his life to following and serving his Savior. Jesus' love flowed through Scott and was felt by all who spent time with him. His life exemplified 1 John 4:19 "We love because he first loved us." Scott worked tirelessly to provide for his family but was still incredibly available to do what he did best which was giving them his undivided attention. His family was his pride and joy, including his precious daughter-in-law Leslie. For all who knew him, Scott was the epitome of selflessness, a great listener and steady friend. He will be missed deeply by those left to mourn his passing.
