On February 13, 2019, Scott passed away at the age of 56 in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.  Scott was born February 7, 1963 in Corpus Christi, Texas to Jerry and Leo Matthew. He attended both Texas A&M and University of Texas. Scott went to work for Giant in 1992 and served as Director of East Coast Marketing. In 2007 Giant was acquired by Western Energy where he served in the role of Vice President, Product Trading. He retired in October, 2017.

Scott was a true visionary when it came to designing and furnishing homes. His eye for colors, design and detail were unmatched. He also enjoyed playing golf and mentoring young golfers.  He was known for his quick wit, generosity, and hospitality.

Scott was preceded in death by his father, Jerry and his mother, Leo. He is survived by his sister, Jo Matthew and brother, Jerry "Kane" Matthew. Scott is also survived by nephews Ryan Matthew and wife Cherie; Gregory Matthew; Ryan Powell and wife Christa; Reid Powell; Rayce Powell; and niece Robin Scalf and husband Kenny.
