Scott Gammeter, beloved husband, father, brother, steadfast and loyal friend, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, December 30th. His life was a gift to many, and our hearts are broken. We are devastated that he left us so early, but we are forever inspired by the legacy that he leaves us.

Scott was born on July15th, 1954 to Larry and Kay Gammeter of Steele Missouri where he spent his youth. Larry was the mayor of Steele for 17 years and Kay was a teacher at Steele elementary where Scott was in her 5th grade class. The family moved to Kansas City, Missouri and Scott attended Middle school there and went to Center Senior High School where he played baseball and football. In both Steele and Kansas City he leaves many of his best friends—friendships that he treasured and nurtured throughout his entire life.

He studied at the University of Missouri and graduated in 1976 with a Bachelor of Science degree. He obtained his Ph.D in clinical psychology from Bowling Green State University in Ohio in 1983 and completed his internship at Baylor College of Medicine in September of 1983. Scott had extensive training in Jungian psychotherapy. He took many classes at the Jung Center in Houston, including Serving people at the moment of death. Here again he would make many lasting friendships.

In September 1997he met the love of his life, Karoline MiIligan (Kammie). They were married on the Island of Bermuda on September 27, 1998. She remained by his side for 22 wonderful years. They have one son, Blake Gammeter, 20 who was his best friend. You only had to look in his eyes or watch his posture to know the depths of love and pride he had for Kammie and Blake.

Scott had an active clinical practice in psychology from 1984 until his death. In this capacity he helped so many people over the course of his life, particularly through depth psychology. He touched all those he served, and he made everyone feel good about what they were capable of.

Scott loved big and cherished his family time above all else. He was full of wisdom and gave his family all the best parts of him. He encouraged us all. his love, care and guidance spread far and wide. He was like a great shepherd, whose enduring legacy will have immeasurable influence and impact.

One of his passions was to play his guitar, sing and make recordings. We all loved to listen to his songs. He also loved to work out and was dedicated to healthy living.

He is survived by wife, Kammie, of 22 years and son Blake Gammeter, 20 years, his sister, Allison Jensen, his brother-in-law Jack E. Jensen, MD, his niece, Kristin Kaminsky and nephew, Justin Jensen and their respective spouses and children.

He is also survived by the best of friends and there are just too many to name, but these include friends from Steele, Kansas City, college, business, his neighborhood, and his poker buddies.

We all mourn, but the Angels are singing for his arrival. He will join his parents, grandparents and his friends who have gone before him.

As much as we would all love to gather and celebrate a life so well lived, due to COVID-19, we are sadly only able to have a family graveside service. We know that so many would love to come together to remember Scott and the impact he has had on us all. We thank you for the outpouring of love and support you have shown us over the last few days.
