Sara Elizabeth Carr Black passed away peacefully surrounded by her children on June 15, 2026. She is now with her Lord and Savior.

Sara was born to Frisbie and Betty Carr on March 4, 1948 in Tampa, Florida. As a child she loved spending time with her maternal grandmother. They would visit and share tea. At the age of 13, she met the love of her life, Thom Black, while attending First Baptist Church in St. Petersburg, Florida. Sara describes herself as being smitten with Thom. They started dating her senior year and their favorite thing to do on dates was to walk on the beach. They were married on September 14, 1967 and began their family. Sara and Thom were married for 38 years.

Sara was passionate about people. She spent her life helping families through her work as a social worker. Sara worked for 10 years at Child Protective Services in Houston as a Social Worker. She served for over 30 years as the Director of New Life Adoption Services where she ministered to both birth moms and adoptive families.

Above all, Sara was a woman of faith. She loved the Lord with all of her heart, soul, and mind. She was a faithful member of Champion Forest Baptist Church since 1983. She loved studying God's Word and doing life with those in her Bible study groups. Her favorite verse is Proverbs 3:5-6. Sara lived this verse out as she trusted in the Lord in all that she did.

She is survived by her children, Christy Davis and husband Jim, Thomas "Butch" Black and wife Cheryl, and Angie Black; her grandchildren to whom she was Ema, Brittany Sneed and husband Maurice, Chris Davis and wife Krystal, Sara Davis, Zach Davis and wife Laura, Aughtney Cox and husband Preston, Thomas "Trey" Black and wife Makenzie, Isabella Black, and Zach Johns and wife Mallory; her great-grandchildren, Aubrey, William, Jayden, Tyler, Tommy, Evan, Delilah, and Keayon; and sister, Nancy Rucker. She also leaves behind nieces, nephews, cousins, and countless others whom she held close to her heart and considered family.

Sara was reunited in heaven with her beloved Thom, parents, brother, and many other loved ones.
