Obituary

Sandra Timpson was born in Amarillo Texas on July 18, 1943 to Willis Marlowe Cates and Sarah Elizabeth Cates. Her family left Amarillo and settled in Houston, TX. In 1959 she married Edward Selmser and had 6 children, 3 boys and 3 girls. She and Edward were divorced in 1970 and married the love of her life, Harold Timpson. While raising her children, she worked various sales jobs from construction to printing.

She later moved to Austin and began her academic career at the age of 43. She received her associates degree from Austin Community College. Sandra received her BA from the University of Houston with a Bachelors of Arts, and earned her Masters from The University of Houston in Clear Lake. Sandra earned her PhD in Public Health from the University of Texas Health Science Center, after graduation, she began working in AIDS research and published several papers.

In 2008 she retired to spend time with her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed cooking, traveling, fishing and boating.

Sandra is preceded in death by her husband, Harold Timpson, father Willis Marlowe Cates, her mother Sarah Elizabeth Watts, her stepfather Jesse Watts and her sister Marla Cates.

She is survived by her six children Mark Selmser and wife Susan, Don Selmser and wife Sandy, Leanne Meguess, Lisa Ramsey and husband Richard, David Selmser and wife Reilly, Denise Harris and husband Steve.

She is also survived by her sister Donna Edwards, and 10 grandchildren: Jessica Burgess and husband Travis; Abby Selmser; Samantha Selmser; Danni Wientjes and husband Mike; Sarah Meguess; Kyle Meguess; Jacob Ramsey; Emely Swensen and husband Jimmy; Laken Thompson and husband Kevin; Samuel Selmser and Zoe Becker. She is also survived by 5 great grandchildren: Jessie, Bryan, Emma, Harmony, Rhett and June.

Sandra was a beautiful person inside and out. She never wanted any of her children to suffer, she would give you the shirt off her back. She was a kind and loving friend to her family and co-workers. She will be missed by all that loved her.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00pm on Monday, December 5, 2016 at Klein Funeral Home-CyFair.
