Sandra Gale Mitchell was born December 31, 1939, and passed away December 10, 2023, after a short but devastating fight with Anaplastic Thyroid Cancer
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Sally Borden, and husband, Paul Mitchell. She is survived by sons Michael and wife Jill and Larry and wife Michele; grandchildren Michael Taylor, William Trevor and Morgan Elizabeth Mitchell and Leah D'Ann Wilson; great-grandchildren Tyler, Thomas and Gracie,; and brother Joel Borden and wife Marjorie.
Sandra was born in San Antonio, Texas. The family then moved to Medina, Texas where she attended school and met Paul. After graduation from Medina High School, she attended Trinity University in San Antonio. After college she and Paul married in 1959. They shared 58 years together making wonderful memories traveling, cruising, and spending lots of time with family and friends. Sandra was a proud Nana to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She stayed home to raise their sons until they started school then she volunteered at the schools and in church. She served on the PTA and later became president. Sandy later went to work for the Houston Independent School District and then the Houston Milk Producers Federal Credit Union.
Sandra always put family first and was always there to support them in all their endeavors. She enjoyed having everyone to her house for the holiday celebrations and she loved watching her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren grow.
She also loved to dance and garden. She and her friends taught line dancing at local community centers and performed in schools for the students. Sandra also joined the Jersey Village Garden Club and enjoyed it so much she became President.
The family wishes to thank all friends and family for their support during this difficult time. We would also like to thank her Physicians, medical staff, and Hospice for their compassion and support.
