Sandra Jeannine Chamberlain won her earthly battle and passed peacefully on Monday, July 20, 2020, in Conroe, at the age of 86. Sandra was born August 8, 1933, in Marlin, Texas, the only child of Sigfrid "Mickey" and Dorothy Borg. Sandra was devoted to her parents, and called her father "Daddy" until the day he died. She shared her childhood with her aunt, Shirley. Because they were only 6 years apart, Sandra and Shirley grew up as sisters. Their bond has never been broken. Having lived through the Great Depression and World War II, Sandra was strong and resilient. She went to college at a time when most young women were settling into the role of housewife and mother, graduating from Texas A&I in Kingsville with a degree in Education. She was a life-long teacher and thoroughly committed to her role. She deeply touched many of her students' lives, who would later relate tales of their time with her saying, "She changed my life." Sandra was also a devoted friend and maintained friendships over distance and decades. Sandra married John Chamberlain on August 2, 1958. The two were married 54 years, until John's passing in 2013. They had two daughters, Kelly in 1965, and Shannon in 1969. As much as Sandra was a devoted daughter, wife, friend, and teacher, the role she filled most completely was Mother. Sandra embodied motherly love – strong, pure and selfless. She fought fiercely on Kelly's behalf, securing educational opportunities and treatment for Kelly's autism. She loved both her daughters without limit, and never missed an opportunity to give them everything they could need or want. She was blessed with two grandsons, Aidan in 2002, and Corin in 2005. She spent countless hours with the boys in their infant and toddler years, forming Play-Doh farms and building bunny houses out of sofa cushions. When she was blessed with her grandchildren Isabel, Alex and Logan in 2010, she loved them immediately without question or hesitation. Sandra also loved her son-in-law, Stefan, as the son she never had. Sandra's humor, strength, love and devotion will be sorely missed by all whose lives she touched.
