Samuel Lawson Langley, Sr. was born in Laurel, MS on Sept 14, 1928. He passed away August 20, 2019 in Tomball, TX at the age of 90.

Typical of his era, he left school at an early age to help in the family business. He did this until he enlisted in the Navy and served aboard the USS Missouri until 1948. Upon returning home, he married his wife of 71 years, Ruth Scoggins. After completing school to become a machinist, he moved to Mobile, AL and worked for Brookley Field until it closed in 1965. He then moved his family to Corpus Christi and worked repairing helicopters at ARADMAC until he was medically retired because of knee injuries. In 1971 he purchased his wife's childhood home and moved his family back to Ovett, MS where he and his wife lived until their declining health forced them to move to TX to be closer to their children.

Samuel was an active member of West Ellisville Baptist Church where he faithfully served as a deacon and helped in other areas as he was needed.

Samuel was preceded in death by his parents, Sylvester and Eunice Langley. He was also preceded in death by his siblings, Orell, Marvin, Don, Irene, Raye, Ailene, and Faye.

Survivors include his wife, Ruth; daughter, Lynn Ferguson and husband, Billy of Stagecoach, TX; son, Samuel Langley, Jr and wife, Carol of Huntsville, TX; son, Mark Langley and wife, LaDonna of Tomball, TX. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren, Bethany Hildebrand (Shawn), Gaberial Langley, Damian Langley (Carrie), Clayton Langley, Joshua Langley, Jessica Lindgren (John), Jacob Langley (Kyndle), Jennifer Gilmore (Ben) and one brother, Jackie Langley.

He will be greatly missed by all including numerous nieces, nephews, and great grandchildren.
