Cypress, TX - Salma Jamil Sayegh, beloved by many, fell asleep in the Lord on August 3, 2017, following her battle with ALS at the age of 75. She is the loving mother of Atallah (Marlin) Sayegh of Cypress, TX, Victoria (Fayez) Tannous of Cypress, TX, Sawsan (Hanna) Rantisi of Kenosha, WI, Abeer (Khader) Fashho of Fairfield, CA, and Elias (Rania) Sayegh of Amman, Jordan.  She is survived by her sister Hannah Fashho of Fairfield, CA, her brother Farah Tannous of Sydney, Australia, her brother Nimer Tannous of Amman, Jordan, her brother Jabra Tannous of Amman, Jordan, her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Jamil Sayegh, her sisters Malakeh Sayegh and Nadia Rantisi and her brother Kousta Tannous.

Born in Jaffa Palestine in 1942 and after becoming a refugee in 1947, she lived in Syria for a year before moving to Amman, Jordan. She lived most of her life in Amman, Jordan until she migrated to Texas to be closer to her children in March of 2016. Salma loved going to church and attended St. Anthony the Great while living in the United States. She prayed fervently and wanted to pray up until her death with her family surrounding her. Her love of God showed in everything she did. Along with her love for her faith, she raised five children alongside her husband in Amman. Salma loved her family and loved being around them. Her greatest joy came from the love she had for her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will be remembered for her warm smile, infectious laugh, and the sincere love that she showed toward everyone she met.

The services in her memory will take place at St. Anthony Orthodox Church (7202 FM 2920, Spring, TX) on Tuesday, August 8, 2017. Visitation will be from 9:30-10:30am followed by the funeral at 10:30am. Graveside procession and trisagion prayers immediately following at Klein Memorial Park (9714 FM 2920). The Meal of Mercy will follow the Internment at St. Anthony's.
