Sally Spell Clarke, 91, was born in Philadelphia, PA, to Margaret Esther McGee and Ebben (Edward) Richie Spell and passed away on Tuesday, June 25, 2024.
She graduated St. Ambrose Parochial School in 1946, and Little Flower High School of Philadelphia in 1950.
Sally studied piano at the Clarke Conservatory of Music for 12 years and music remained an especially important part of her life. Her family and friends always loved hearing her play.
In June 1951 she met her future husband, Joseph William Clarke II, at the Conservatory following his graduation from West Point in 1951. They were married in Philadelphia on November 24, 1951, at St. Ambrose Catholic Church.
Sally provided constant love, guidance, and support for her family as they moved in various assignments with the Army; Fort Benning, GA; Fort Hood, TX, and three years in Bad Herzfeld, Germany, and assignments with Honeywell in Philadelphia, PA, Hartford, CT, Westfield, NJ, Houston, TX, and Scottsdale, AZ.
In addition to the dedicated care of her family, Sally found time to pursue her own career as an LPN with her first training and assignment in Houston, TX, and later in Phoenix, AZ, and Wayne, PA. Joe and Sally retired in Houston, Texas, in 1992.
She enjoyed walking with her dogs, visiting her grandchildren, reading, movies, and consuming a lot of sweet confections.
Sally is survived by her loving children, Alexis and John (Kim) of Houston, TX, and Daughter-in-Law Carol (Joe) of Bismarck, ND. Sally or "G-Mom" as all of her grandchildren and great grandchildren called her, was a cherished and adored grandmother. Memories of her will be cherished by Christopher (Tenille) and their children Calvin and Tilly of Bismarck ND; Leigh (Kim) and their child Aubrey of Mandan ND, and Jeffrey of Las Vegas, NV.
Sally is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 65 years, Joe, and their sons Joseph (Jody), Edward (Eddie) and Frederick (Freddie).
On July 19, 2024, there will be a memorial service and celebration of life beginning at 2:00 PM at the Klein Funeral Home – CyFair Northwest located at 9719 Wortham Blvd in Houston, Texas 77065.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Sally's name to Big Love Rescue.
