Sadie Odessa Knight Foltin

Sadie was born January 18, 1921 and went to be with her Lord Jesus on June 11, 2018. Sadie grew up during the depression years in the small East Texas community of Votaw in Hardin County. Sadie married Joseph Amiel "Buster" Foltin around 1940. After their marriage, Buster did carpenter work, and they ran a small grocery and feed store in north Houston off West Montgomery Road. From there, they bought property in southwest Montgomery County where they put in a dairy farm, but during the drought of the 1950s, Buster was forced to seek work in Houston. In 1958, they built Foltin Furniture, Appliance, and Hardware Store in Tomball. The store was very successful and had several additions to the building over the years. Sadie loved music, especially gospel music. Sadie and Buster began attending Tomball Assembly of God with their three children in the early 1950s when TAG was housed in a wood frame building at its present location at 1101 West Main in Tomball. Sadie taught Sunday school there. One of her well known students was Buddy Dial. After retiring from the furniture business around 1970, Buster started raising beef cattle and Sadie started art lessons. Over the years, Sadie created many, many beautiful oil paintings. Sadie also wrote a book of poetry and had it published. For the Texas Bicentennial Celebration, Sadie made a beautiful Texas Bicentennial Quilt which depicted historical events in the state of Texas and entered quilt competitions. Sadie was a very friendly person and made many friends over the years. She loved people and her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren

Sadie was Preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Amiel Foltin and daughter, Rose Marie Foltin Foster

She is survived by her children, Jo Clopton and husband, Larry, Dr. Tony Foltin and wife, Gloria; grandchildren, Rhonda Leverett, Stephanie Marie Tompkins, Cecil Anthony Murphy, Angela Foltin Knee, Dr. Jana Marie Foltin Bruhn, Jerrid Foster Foltin, n umerous great-grandchildren, and n ieces, nephews and many friends
